ShowDown Season 3: first round
Total 24 players have registered for ShowDown 1v1 Season 3. We can recognize names like LocKtar, bps or Dag (?!) among the signed-up players, so with some probability this tournament may see some Swedish only games in the final rounds.

The initial first round is about to finish this weekend. After that comes the first "full" round, that is a round, where every player has to actually face some opponent. Check Winners' Bracket for further info. Good luck to everybody!

Locktar facing bps as his first game? All 3 of the favourites are on the same upper half of the bracket which is quite strange.

#1: Which is the reason I, for one, didn't sign up. It's been mentioned several times the last season as well, and it seems again nothing is done to seed it properly. Not to mention that's in the middle of the summer and was bound to be loads of WO's. And it got delayed by 4-5 weeks, or even more? How do you know the ones signed up a month ago for a deadline then, is up for playing the tournament now?

The ShowDown 1&2 was a great and welcomed initative due to the lack of Ownage or something similiar the past year. But I feel, specially with this season being forced through, that it more or less have played its roll, and something fresh run by people with more insight in the scene in general should take initiative to form something after the summer. I'm willing to help out with that, so if anyone had something in mind for after the summer, be sure to contact me.

Ofc, I might be wrong and this season will be great even if it is in the middle of the summer and few signups. Then I can only regret not signing up myself, but lets see. GL to all participants anyways!

all showdowns were BAD! All of them have very veRY VERY bad organisation.
I think abidel should be banned from creating tournaments!
even the showdown site is down right now.
This activity kills QW much more than no tournaments at all.
QW never die!

Logical reasoning!

I think one should be very careful when criticizing creative people as there's a fine line between making them go well-i'll-bloody-show-you-what-i-can-do and oh-f*ck-this-ungrateful-horde-of-bastards.

However, there is a distinct lack of a high-profile QW1on1 tournament right now that is 100% supported by the community, something which Showdown not really has had it feels. A Duelmania/Ownage kind of tournament where one could see a filled 256 player bracket with a lot of good players would be nice and if it doesn't happen automagically, I'd also volunteer to set it up.

It's a vicious circle; players want more games, more leagues, more coverage, more action. Then the chance is given to create all this in form of a new season of a league and people need to be persuaded to sign up and play their games.

Maybe some unfortunate technical decisions were made (i.e. seeding/random/whatever) but I think it's quite unfair to INSULT those who put in effort into a league if you don't happen to agree with the system. Some years ago I used to be involved in some leagues, too, but generally had lost interest due to more and more power handed over to the players (who once used to be the "customer". It's just a pain in the ass with customers like that - ask anyone who ever spent a day at the other side of the counter.

That's has always been a tendency in QW scene: just to denounce everything for no apparent reason. I've witnessed it myself when being the admin of ClanWarz. Few ppl want to do smth for the scene, some of the rest just prefer to be retarded dicks. So lame.

#10: that's a comment from the other extreme side of opinion spectrum. I really don't think there "always been a tendency" to "denounce everything". The scene can appreciate good stuff. There should be some limit though, you can't defend everything with "be glad, at least he tried."

Not saying ShowDown was that bad (witka's comment was sort of primitive), but for example there seemed to be a lack of "feedback". Admins didn't make many public statements about various concerns players had, also the IRC channel is pretty dead. That makes lots of players reconsider whether they are going to sign-up or how actively they will try to play their games.
