EQL 13 week 7½ review
Desperate last minute catch ups, a national team in identity crisis, a heated discussions about rule-breaking and a team getting cheated out of the playoffs. This and more in my last regular season review.
Most of the action was driven by CCCP.se and tKS. Understandable as tKS were fighting to make it into playoffs and CCCP.se wanted to secure a better spot for playoffs.

With the very late addition of sQueeze to the CCCP.se roster they were finally able to get the ball rolling. They managed to play a whopping 4 rounds. Winning against Slackers II (2-0) and tKS (2-1) but leaving points against cMF (0-2) and Fusion (1-2). They actually needed to play 6 games to catch up but this was 2much2handle, so they had to give SuddenDeath walkovers in both their games. Which was a real shame cause it was one of the games during this season both teams and spectators were looking forward to.

With the 2 WO's for SD they also managed to take down tKS (2-1) dropping a map surprisingly.

This begs the question though... where did all the Russians go? Have they been shipped off to a gulag camp? Will they be able to join us for the playoffs, and if they will, who will take the bench? Moltas is a given to stay on the field, and sQueeze brings more div1 teamplay experience than the all-in brothers, votary & overdoze put together. But with meshuggah and XN out of the game for so long is it worth the gamble to let them take the mat and batter up?

Slackers managed with some luck to get their game played against Fusion. With an injured zero using only 9 fingers they still pulled through a convincing victory over this strong team.

After the season ended there was given dispensation for some teams to play their remaining matches. Among those were tKS and Demolition Crew who both needed to play BOTH of their matches. Both games were played same day and caused a bit of controversy. Mainly because it was a direct cause for Slackers II not making it to playoffs and because it was accomplished by breaking the rules (2 teams cannot play both their games on the same day, and how can you play after season ended without having announced a catchup week/day?).

This sparked a heated debate over at EQL but brace yourself for possible trolling and long comments

Well that's my weekly review - if you want some predictions for the playoffs, please head over to my colleague gaz's blog and check that out.

Keep up the good work Para. Updates like this makes it so much easier to follow the tournaments even if one isn't currently playing, which I think will be a very good thing over time as it draws attention

The QW hunger is starting to come back for real, I must admit...

^I agree, I think one of the (long term) flaws we've had in QW is that often we don't have news articles on the main portal, since 'everyone' in the QW scene will follow tourneys directly on the relevant website. But I think it really helps for inactive players and also newcomers... if you have 2 articles a month it looks like a dead game, if you have 2 articles a day then it seems pretty active.

I'm as guilty as anyone for not posting stuff but hopefully this level of activity will continue throughout the coming weeks.

"sQueeze brings more div1 teamplay experience than the all-in brothers, votary & overdoze put together"

???
I'm pretty sure either of votary & od have played far more div1 games than sQueeze :S

Votary is just $$$, especially on e1m2

@Hagge: I thought the same thing, but perhaps Squeeze has played under some other nick before. :}

He's at least been "Squeeze" since he was playing with Fired in div 2 in NQR5&6 ish. I don't think he played div 1 before that, and afaik he spent a while in div 2 with teams like Mean Machine (?) before he went to div 1 with Fusion.
