NQR10 final on finnish digital TV
The NQR10 Gold Cup final is going to be televised on finnish web and digital TV. With an average of 10,000 viewers this should be an excellent opportunity to show Quakeworld to the masses. The show will be in finnish and feature expert commentary by Jkova and Mirage.
Our beloved friend Fix (among others) has worked hard to introduce the audience of the finnish GameTV association to Quakeworld. The result of all this is that the Nations Quake Rank 10 Gold Cup final between Dota Allstars-Guys and clan Malfunction/ Freedom will be streamed at the GameTV website and later on also shown on two finnish digital TV channels.

This will be a great opportunity to showcase the beauty of top notch Quakeworld action as the usual broadcasts are said to have an average of 10,000 viewers. As the audience is all finnish, the whole show will be in finnish too, led by the GameTV commentator Wabbit. To make the crowd understand what is going on to an even greater extent there are two Quakeworld commentators who will accompany Wabbit in the shoutcasting; Jkova and Mirage.

While waiting for this big moment, which is scheduled for somewhere between next Monday and next Thursday, you can enjoy the other semifinal tonight. The clash between clan Malfunction and Freedom is scheduled for tonight at 22:00 CET. Make sure not to miss out on this as cMF's newest addition who's back in action, Memil, might play.

Great idea, Ake. The thought of a QW tournament arranged by a mainstream event organiser is really intriguing, and it shouldn't be impossible to achieve. After all, we've been there before.

The competitiveness of the QW scene is without a doubt on par with that of any current mainstream game scene. It really deserves broader attention.

yeah why not , if fatality and vo0 etc think they really are pro-gamers they should be able to compete at quakeworld at the highest level, i challenge them.. if they cant do it they are gay.

The mongo thing is that recently those tournament organizers have made a U-turn when it comes to competitive gaming. Instead of having Quake 4 (just an example), some of them have went for more mainstream games like WoW, boxing, Guitar Hero (!) and other wicked stuff. They sure need an action shooter in there too and i think now is our chance to get some attention.

Once they realize that QW is in practice *closest* to a sport (the game part almost doesnt exist, it's all about with who you play, how you play, teamplay etc), then there will be just one more thing to do - make it popular (ye, even if QW was the 8th wonder, without a million fans its still just a relic).

yes this is just the beginning, soon quakeworld will take over the world !
