Division 3 predictions!
For those of you who didn't follow the Division 3 of EQL, you're in luck, as Kwibus has written a nice article featuring his predictions for the EQL Division 3 play-offs. Being a Division 3 player himself, currently playing with Comfortably Numb, he knows all the teams and their main players.

At last we’ve reached the playoff stage of EQL. The group stage of division three was a huge success with only a few teams struggling in activity, but besides that there was lots of activity and the difference in skill wasn’t too extreme either. Special mention to Mob of Oddballs who had a hard time, but lots of kudos to them for playing most matches if not all.

I’m going to have a look at the teams that reached the playoffs and make a prediction of the upcoming playoff games. I’ll also mention the star player of the team for extra juice.

Read on for the full article
Teams participating in the play-offs

1. Quinas
They reached the number one spot with relative ease winning all their matches and are the favorite for the division three title. This Portuguese/English combination (and Flash/de) is one of the more experienced teams. Some players could as well play in division two. Only problem they have is their connection.
I don’t really think they got a star player although I’m leaning towards Mushi, but with his poor activity and mostly crappy ping he can’t really shine, which is a good thing for the competition.
Star player: Mushi

2. Boomstick Ownator’s
Runner up and thus the biggest competitor for Quinas? I’m not too sure about that. They got their asses handed by Quinas twice on dm2 for the group stage and Comfortably Numb beat them 2-1. Besides that they won all their group games. I don’t know BO very well so it’s hard for me to judge. Their loss to Comfortably Numb was (according to BO) an off day, but if that is true is up to them to prove in the playoffs.
Star player: glt

3. Comfortably Numb
A struggling start in the group stage made it look like CN were upsetting some good teams later, but I think those later games are more representative for Comfortably Numb's abilities. Having beat other playoff teams like BO, Baconmen and Fallen Angels at the end of the group stage, but having lost to Quinas, in a blaze and Bloodpunch earlier in the season.
I think CN can beat any team, but in the end Quinas will be a bit too much. A lot will depend on their opponents ability to play during the weekend as CN's Hungarian players can’t play midweeks.
Star player: Akken

4. Baconmen
This Swedish squad relies a lot on the skills of Zaiko who is probably the best individual player running around in division three. But of course he can’t do it on his own and that’s exactly the weak spot of this team. The others ain’t top division three material, besides aki of course, but he didn’t play that much so will we see him in the playoffs? If so they can upset anyone.
Star player: Zaiko

5. Fallen Angels
This group of mostly QW veterans cruised to the playoffs. Playing with whatever lineup they could put up. If they had four online then it was those four who played not minding the opponent. Like most teams it’s important to win the division title playing with your best lineup and that’s probably the hardest part for FA. If they can field their best lineup they are an absolute contender for the division three title in my opinion.
Star player: Karnage

6. Bloodpunch
Mixed feelings about this team. They got such different results with the same lineup that it’s hard for me to predict what they are gonna do. Besides that I haven’t seen them play since mid March so I wonder if they are still out there? What are they up too in the playoffs? Having results in the group stage that could easily make them favorites, but also results that suggest they won’t make it to the next round.
Star player: Stickman

7. In a Blaze
Possibly one of the teams can still upset anyone. They are under the guidance of the mighty fix which certainly helps them. They can field a mighty lineup, but I wonder if they ever played with their best possible lineup? Looking at their results they reached the playoffs with quite a few different players playing so I’m not sure they are able to field a consistent lineup.
Star player: Ande

8. Tactical Powerless Amebas
These amebas are probably surprised they reached the playoff stage and well that’s what they should be. They played pretty much all of their games which were mostly lost, but since Na Fianna decided to quit EQL near the end of the season they ended up just above the line. This friendly team won’t reach the next round.
Star player: Cujo.

The play-off matches.

Quinas vs Tactical Powerless Amebas (3 – 0) - Bet at Goldrush
This match will be nice for Quinas to keep up their good morale by whooping TPA across TB3 maps. TPA doesn’t stand a chance, the difference between these teams is just too big.

Boomstick Ownator’s vs In a Blaze (3 – 1) - Bet at Goldrush
A lot will depend if they can field the best line ups, but I guess that’s the same for all teams so from now on I will just assume both teams will field their best lineup.
BO have shown that they are a solid team so far and they won’t let In a Blaze upset them. The games will be tight and tense, but BO will walk away with the win.

Comfortably Numb vs Bloodpunch (3 – 2) - Bet at Goldrush
This could go either way. Normally CN should take this match home, but BP have shown they can really be monsters so why not this match? With CN’s dominance on dm3 I doubt BP will be able to win it. Dm2 though should be won by BP as CN only managed to win it once, but that happened to be during their last match in which they actually pretty much owned Fallen Angels on dm2.
Since I think CN has the edge on dm3 they will win this match.

Baconmen vs Fallen Angels (1 - 3) - Bet at Goldrush
If Peppe, IBA and Karnage play for FA then they will certainly win this match, but since this is highly unlikely it will be a tense and tight game, but I still think FA will win this match.
Baconmen will be able to steal a map because Zaiko goes on a rampage, but that’s it.
