New Subsite: stats.quakeworld.nu
It has been said for years now that Quakeworld scene is shrinking and numbers are dropping. Well now we can get a better indication as to the numbers playing Quakeworld and trends with the release of QuakeWorld Statistics (stats.quakeworld.nu).

The new site is a resource which details almost all QuakeWorld matches played on KTX serves. The website allows users to to view matches in the following categories: 4on4, 2on2, 1on1, pov, end, endif and ffa matches with an end of match scoreboard. The site collects and compiles match data and presents this in an easy to view format giving a whole variety of information.

There are weekly awards based on a player ranking system and a profile for all players detailing all their matches and statistics. This is for fun and if nothing else gives an idea of a players activity and can be used to size up an opponent for a league match.

If maps are your thing then their is a map section with detailed stats for all maps played.
Finally there is a list of all servers and players with corresponding statistics and a detailed statistics page for all game modes broken down per day and per week.

Alot of time went into this project. Some aspects may not be to everyones liking but the site should provide useful to some people in the information it tries to present.

If you have any feedback or suggestions please leave a comment here. Any bugs can you leave a message on irc or on the forums.

Please note that the Statistics and Matches were all re-set on the 4th of February.

There's no hotlink, true, but it's the title of this article.

wow, very nice.

Go pleura!!!

In the general award, 1st place is for most frags and 3rd is for most matches. 2nd is for most time played.

Wow, that is super complex and hard to grasp at first but a fantastic resource. Great work.

I think integrating such things into this website would be much better though, less fragmentation.

I have an idea.
What about the thing, that everyone would be put into qw statistics, but only people which would have a registered nick on qw stats would actually be ranked+awarded?
2009-02-06, 22:37
but really, this is one of the things I always wanted and thanks to the ones that programmed it.

more general ideas :
having it a little bit as a league in a way - authed players would be ranked in groups depending on their wins/losses.
it's hard to explain, generally, here's how it would work (even tho I guess that it would be really hard to code it and I doubt that there is anyone who actually has the mood to do that), this is how it works in sc league servers (ICcup these days)
all authed players start ranked as D. (1000 points)
Then, if they win, they get 100 points, if they lose, they lose 50 points. If they drop below 500 points, they are ranked as D-, if they get 2000 points, they are ranked as D+. But, if they are D and win against someone ranked B, they can get 200 points. And if they would lose against someone ranked B, they wouldn't lose 50 points but f.e. 20 points.
Here is how the ladder looks like: http://www.iccup.com/starcraft/ladder/1x1.html
And if the stats are logging the games someone plays, I think that it would be nice to have an overall ladder of 1x1 games, with ranking like this.

I happened to come by this site by sheer luck/whatever and was kinda blown away by the stuff you could get from it.
2009-02-07, 08:10
Guys, it's amazing stuff, great work!!!
2009-02-07, 10:39
jebak, that won't work. This is simply using player's names without any kind of authentication. Imagine someone using your nick to lose 100 games.
2009-02-07, 11:19
By registering you would be able to "claim ownership" of some nicks and also to "reject" a matches where someone was using your nick illegaly. The only downside I can think of here is that you'd be able to reject even matches where you actually did play but you sucked and don't want your rank to go down :p

Turning it into a genuine, mandatory league leaderboard is a bad idea, imho. We already have plenty of leagues for that purpose.

This site is what it is; an excellent resource for qw statistics.
2009-02-07, 12:12
Is this stats site encouraging playing against rookies, or is there some skill calculator thingy going on?
2009-02-07, 12:53
When a 1on1 match is played the ranking score for each player is affected. A high ranked player will see a bigger rise in ranks when they defeat a high ranked person than they would get from playing a low ranked person. Fake nicking happens all the time anyway and of course people can fool the system etc etc. They will get bored after a while and the site will still serve up plenty of good info.

The site is just start and the posibilites are endless. Loads can be done to improve it and enhance it. So tis up to people to get involved.

BTW: Thanks for all the comments.

WOW my dreams come true stats4life!
2009-02-07, 13:56
Imho nicknames like "player" or "unnamed" should be disabled
2009-02-07, 15:00
#21: What about russian player xn? He uses unnamed all the time
2009-02-07, 15:12
"Imho nicknames like "player" or "unnamed" should be disabled" true
2009-02-07, 15:26
where can we report bugs? sorting servers by criteria doesn't work for me (well).
2009-02-07, 18:02
I created a post here:
http://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=44946#p44946

If you have bugs suggestions etc you can leave them there.

As to the 'Unnamed' and 'player' in the tables. At the end of the week these are ommitted for any of the weekly awards. I have left them in the leaderboards for completeness as I do know that one or two players use these nicks. Perhaps it might be best to ommit these competely.

Fucking huge!!!
2009-02-07, 18:37
!
2009-02-08, 00:11
really nice job!
2009-02-08, 09:57
Ive never been interested in these kind of stats, and sorry but this didnt change that at all..will probably don't use this site too often. BUT,.. DAMN nice work I must say. If I was a stats person I would love this.

(the ability to show scores from matches is the most wonderful feature and I think a site focused on only that would actually be enough for a huge hit.)
2009-02-08, 17:03
Great stuff. One of the most important things in the past qw years for sure!
2009-02-09, 02:36
This is the greatest thing to happen to QuakeWorld since I've been around!
2009-02-11, 21:15
Really nice!!

But wth aint my servers in the list ? ://
2009-03-23, 11:53
Seems like there's a bug somewhere. Some players have a lot of time played, like me. I have total time of 61004 with 363 matches -> average 170min/match
2009-04-02, 19:59
dedi: i don't anything about this but i'd guess that's because some servers idle for long times and if you pop on server which has been running dm3 for days you get that time on your record. just a guess though
