QTV ingame chat! (updated)
You asked for it, now it's the time for it.
Qqshka wiki made changes to both QTV and MVDSV so that finally QTV observers can talk to the players during prewar. There are few things that need to be mentioned before start trashtalking in QTV:

1) There is a small amount of delay during prewar if you talk to the players, but it's like one second or so.

2) When countdown starts, QTV experience will be extremely choppy for a few seconds. Yes, this is totally normal, we are just adjusting the buffer.

3) During round there is around 10 seconds delay between live action and QTV streaming. You can't talk to the players from QTV at this point.

4) After the round ends, you still can't talk to the players --> wait for map reload/change and you'll have your 1s delay and chat again.

5) Normal QTV observer to observer chat is untouched.

Usage: Like being a Qizmo observer, use say_game.

Requirement: qtv_adjustbuffer 1 (in ezQuake)

My administrated servers and Suomicom QTV have been updated to match these requirements already, so you can start testing the stuff. There will be some changes in the ezQuake client later so check nightly builds from time to time.

Don't forget to thank Qqshka wiki for wasting his saturday evening/night giving you this feature and Fucu wiki for testing it with me.

For the players/observers!
This is the client you are looking for.

For the server admins!

Is there away to lower the 1 second to no second during prewar (in essence, live streaming, with zero delay?).

Also, hopefully we'll have something that pops up in ezQuake "Please wait will the QTV buffer is adjusted"

btw thx qq as always

hmm. Is it possible that mvdsv would introduce qtv_ip_and_id_variable, that incase the specslots are taken instead of typing just 'server is full' return the message: This server is full, but there is a qtv-stream available with "qtvplay 32@quake.se". Perhaps even automate the reconnect etc.. and in the same way when you are watching the stream, you would be able to type /joingame and it would try and connect to the game as player.

i realize some of this prolly has to be in the client...

You must realize that there is not going to be just one "constant" QTV always around. The fact that I seem to be running only QTV at this point is just a coincidence and the amount of servers I'm going to add to it will be limited at best.

What you are asking is that the server (MVDSV) should know what QTV is connected to it. Also the server should know what SID is given for the port in question not to mention if there is actually any room on QTV. What if there are four QTVs connected to the given server? Should we display 4 different addresses and 4 different SIDs for them? This really complicates the implementation possibities and frankly I don't know if it's really worth it.

I wouldn't mind the ability to just /join on the server from QTV. To be honest I think it will be more like necessary to have in the future.

Is that 10 seconds fixed or adjustable? I'm no expert in ghosting but it sounds kinda short for some situations.

renzo, but the possibility for the serveradmin to specify a primary qtv server shouldnt hurt anyone
