Ye, (way) better than wargamez for moi too. 90ms dosping to wargamez (my isp routed straange to wg), and now 24-25ms dosping...

28ms to this compared to 13ms on wargamez, but i can live with that. Seems to be very good for "everyone" else.

It's always worth of trying some Qizmos. For example Gamers.nu at 194.17.31.241:27500 is only 11ms away from easy.QuakeWorld.dk.

As this server will have limited spec spots (like 2/port), i urge people to really try out ezTV. No more waiting in line when SR is playing F0m on easyspeedy for example - and all MVD features work too. <3

I quickly hacked together a program that pings a server through qizmos. Using this together with the qizmo.txt at quakeservers.net I pinged the new servers and got the following results, (only including < 40 ms results)

Don't trust the results too much, some servers did not allow me to ping at all and some results can have been higher than what they really should be (and therefore excluded from the list).
I checked the countries for the ip's myself so they might not be correct

phantasy, thats very nice. An idea would be to add a 'qconnect' command to ezquake that uses a qizmo.txt and connects to the specified server thru the qizmo that gives the best ping. I dunno if its worth trying to make it more advanced (going thru several qizmos etc). I think this would be good enough. Atleast it was a long time since i improved my ping by using >1 qizmo.

kubus.rulez.pl:27555 is missing from that list. It's only 25ms away and should be good for people in Poland.

well i would rather it was a server at game launch as i think routing to those servers is better for people outside of london in the uk, (i get 50 ms on easyspeedy and 40 on wg and gamelaunch) i would also be interested to hear from a few polish to see what their results on the new server are...

i can go through a qizmo however and get 40 ms but i suspect the qizmo i use will die soon :<

I am tempted to rent a gamelaunch server out myself anyway to have as a bst server... para how much does this cost you a month?

willgurht: its not that linear. the "qconnect" command you mention should choose the best qizmo to the specified server (a) AND ping your machine to the qizmo (b). repeat that for the 3/4 best qizmo's. then do math: (a) + (b) = choose the lower result -> best qizmo to YOU

ill rephrase:
(a) + (b) = (c)

the lowest value of (c) is the best option -> "qconnect <(c) qizmo> <server>"

well i was just thinking of making it simple. As you say u need to take into account both client2qizmo ping + qizmo2server ping (and that these might vary a bit each time).

I realise this is not the perfect script for all situations, but it's simple and not complex. I cant understand why you say 'its not that linear'

Basically LethalWiz was saying that he isn't willing to pay/donate because the ping-time there is too high for him.

Well it's up to you if you donate or not, noone is making you to do so. If you have bad ping, try using Qizmo reroute to get it better.

Batfink: i think it's the E3007 model he chose on easyspeedy, so 69,99 euro/month. The whole thought would be to have many more of us in the community to donate for the servers in the future though as it adds up to quite some sums in the long run.

And yes I found a proxy that gave my 26-30ms which must be considered ok.

Well this seems to be an upgrade for me, on wargamez I had +60ms because of lol routing.
Now I got ping 10-15.

I have better ping as well from switzerland (with a shity ISP)... In fact I wanted to point out that this server signup for 1 month and paypal donations is the right thing to do. No need to invest big money and rent a server for more than a month. Routing and connectivity can change quickly and might get worse over time...

damn, ping changed for me tonight.. now i have to use two qizmo's (me -> quake.se -> speciell.se -> qw.dk) to get 38ms.. had 26ms directly to easy.quakeworld.dk last night

Best results from Poland are by qizmo kubus.rulez.pl:27555 and we got 51 ping exacly same as to wargamez.

3 ms dosping from Lund (im guessing the same for a lundaquakers). Not too bad.
