hi

i have made a new ffa map "dark-terror-ffa"

you can download it from here...

if anyone would like to see the colored lighting, put the dark-terror-ffa.lit into quake/qw/lits or just put the dark-terror-ffa.lit with the dark-terror-ffa.bsp file
in quake/id1/maps or quake/qw/maps

cmd to load the colored lighting is, gl_loadlitfiles 1 (then reconnect)
cmd to unload colored lighting is, gl_loadlitfiles 0 (then reconnect)

zip contents

dark-terror-ffa.lit

looks good and i had a quick wizzabout,feels like instant hit. I am working on a couple of maps,long process to get right.how long it take you to make this ?

i started this map last month, i worked on it for a few days, then ran out of motivation, i started working on it last week, until yesterday, total time on it was prolly a week and a day or 2

very cool map i tried it in duel, and i really want to try it in ffa. X4ffa would be a good place. I especially like the easy tele rj possibility

Hi Tidsels,

Already said it to you in person: nice map. I liked speeding in it and got over 800 ups

Only downer is the fps hit when i look down in the huge quad room, but you heard that from me. Am I the only one with a Geforce 7 series that get these fps hits?

I get fps drops here too, r_speeds are over 3300 above quad and it's probably the worst map on xs4all performance wise.

Yes, I think Tiddles hasn't really looked into the LOS subject (Line Of Sight) which is crucial for Quake mapping. Basicly, the Quake engine is NOT good for large open areas or long tunnels because when your LOS isn't blocked by a solid brush, you get fps problems. So LOS must be blocked by a wall, not a door, because that's an entity that doesn't block VIS.

Other reasons for fps drops is complex architecture (which probably isn't the problem here) and too many different textures. Go to Func_msgboard for more info, Tiddles
