Just got a funny idea, dont know if anyone is into making this but:

A Q3:Arena Singleplayer like mod for Quakeworld, where you should compete against bots on different "mostly unknown" maps, a difference between Duel, 2on2 and 4on4.

It could be made in a UT kind of way, with a Duel Section to complete, a 2on2 Section etc. maybe it could include CTF and even TF (could be a little prob though)

or

It could be made Q3 sort of way, with 10-20 maps who changes between the gametypes Duel, 2on2, 4on4 and 4on4CTF

Most of it could be made with some frogbots...but it should have a easy menu system and difficult levels like "Easy, Medium, Hard and Nightmare"

What do you guys think of the idea ?

I guess it would a funny way to play new/other maps/gametypes (ctf) and also old maps of course. And it would be a nice thing for Newbies to get into !

Yes, but this idea is a Singleplayer mod, where you will have to compete against the bots a complete something around 30 maps in different gametypes in different difficult levels. With a nice newb friendly menu system !

it'd be pretty simple a task if Electro released the source

might not have much luck with that though. there was previous discussion on the old qw.nu forums trying to get him to open source Pro-X

Pro-X used frikbots, but not the qw port, so start here http://www.inside3d.com/frikbot/fbx/ and make your own...
it already ahs a qwprogs.dat file that will allow u to atleast play a small 1on1 wit the bot out of the box!

Ii have some waypoint files for id's dm1 - 6 maps.

registering electro.sourceforge.net and keeping the source nice and safe on there would be a good idea

turns out the drive has physical damage, but the tech guy at work seems to believe it's only the surface of the drive that stores the filesystem and such that has screwed up....

we're running some pretty advanced software that can even salvage data after a format (!) so i might be able to rip all the files out... worst case is that i get no files, i may only get some... but any is better than nothing that's for sure

it takes something like 12 or more hours to run on the hdd, so i'll keep you guys posted if i can get the source.

i'm all for making a single player bot campaign like i did for q1a, that's fine
i also had a heap of planned features in a new release of pro-x... namely standard map support, which i've already got going
... kind of making clan arena abundant

something else i'd like to do is merge the 2 code bases into 1 and just use ifdef's when compiling

this means in most cases just managing the 1 set of code files rather than having to replicate all changes across the 2 branches.
