I'm setting up a CTF ladder but haven't yet decided if it will be 2on2 or 4on4. Please answer the poll and also tell what maps would you like to see included in the map pool.

i´ll play, but terms. dmm3, no teamdamage, runes on. green armor spawn. maps e2m2, e1m2, ctf8 should atleast be in the maplist.
i.e good old ctf rules.
Mine goes to eleven.

Why not both? (2on2 & 4on4)

preferably all episode-maps included, like in the good old days.

the answer is very simple imo.
Due to the fact that we don't really know, at this time, how many players are interested in playing ctf and the interest it will generate in the upcoming weeks, i'de vote for 2on2, without a doubt. Ofc 4on4 is better, but for starters i think this is the right thing to do

However 4on4 allows complete clans too choose ctf. And personally i wouldn't play 2v2, to boring.

perhaps 4on4 is the more fun way to do it.
but like mushi i voted 2on2 cause of the fact that there will probably not be enough interest to play 4on4. and even if it will for a start we know that in this community ppl drop off as soon as its not so fun anymore.

and if its 4on4 i would gladly do dmm1 but 2on2 requires dmm3 imo.

4on4 in comparison to 2on2 : less games, less activity, less teams, slower pace, harder to get games going (causing inactivity), harder to learn (for "new" players)

sorry, AT THIS STAGE, I would prefer 2on2.
4on4? hell YES!! but not the right way to start imho

I assume this will be played with the (fucked up) hook enabled?

I think the hook on xs4all ctf works quite nicely

hook is a part of ctf so of course there will be hook!
im not interested in playing without it. its what gives ctf its pace.

ctf ftw! i'd really be looking for a ctf ladder/tourney. i wouldn't mind playing 2on2, but i'd prefer playing 4on4.

Sure, but in QW it's just fucked up to play with hook as the game is so fast already. Q2CTF was the bestest.

I agree with Ake, but I have no idea if it would be better without it, might be even more retarded then

sounds like the good old frightened dm player
nah but seriously you can play very well without any hook-skills.
but you can also play well with hook skills.
there used to be two different sorts of players, the fast ones without any aim, and the slower ones that rellied on their aim. (then dag came along , but thats a different story).
however, 2on2 without hook skills can be a problem.
4on4 not that much.

ctf without hook? I smell q2/q3 (suckage)

it simply isnt the same without hook. I played a little q3 ctf without hook and it was the shit. even ut ctf was better (no hook but a teleporting device, cant remember the name)

quake ctf has hook. that's how zoid designed it. period

QWCTF without a hook isn't worth my time.

There plenty skill involved in using the hook and it is an incredibly fast, intense game.

FYI,
UT had the translocator

I've decided to go with 4on4 ladder with hook and runes enabled. Check out the site at http://ladder.nqr.nu/ctf_1/. As you might notice there is a great demand of a new logo

The map pool is pretty small because there seems to be many interested players with no previous CTF experience. More maps can be added later.

If there is anything in rules you would like to have changed please leave a message to this thread.

It's not the hook as an item i don't like - it's the combination of Quakeworld physics and the hook that i don't like. In Q2 it was perfect and in Q3 it sucked because you didn't have air control nor a hook.
