Instructions:

1. Download http://zquake.frag.ru/misc/ezquake-easymove.zip, extract the exe into your Quake folder, run it
2. Type cl_easymove 1 in the console
3. Start a map or connect to a server
4. Press and hold +forward
5. Press and hold +jump
6. Run around. Don't release +forward or +jump.

UPDATE: build 2133 (29.12.07) with easymove: http://zquake.net/misc/ezquake-easymove2.zip. This one doesn't include full source code, but a patch against ezQuake svn. It should be possible to apply the patch to newer versions of ezq svn.

this is pretty fucking awesome for the people who simply cannot bunnyjump (due to hand problems or whatever)!

though i doubt anyone will "accept" it, i will sure keep a copy around!

nice work!

Tonik: client side prediction for bunnyjumping, nice

possible to implement some of this into the sv_bot extensions in zquake?

oldman, it's quite easy to teach a bot to press strafes while in the air. Teaching that to a human is a much harder task, hence this feature

It goes against my better judgment to run undocumented exe files, so;

1) What does it change, if anything, in your Quake folder?
2) How effective is it? By the responses I'm guessing it's an automated bunny-hopper - but how good is it? Does it maximize velocity, or only attempts to get a "decent" speed?

Just try the damn .exe, it doesn't change anything in your folder, it's just another ezquake.exe :/

The acceleration is exactly the same as usual, you just don't have to tap the strafes any more, and you can keep +jump pressed. You don't need strafes for the initial accel-jump either; but when you need to move silently, strafe running and wall running work as expected.

You get a slight advantage over classic movement in that you can now bunny-hop backwards, sideways and even diagonally very easily. I don't think you can beat reppie by running around him in circles though.

dakoth, you're welcome to compile your own binary, I included the source code as required by the GPL.

Nice I've found the "Los Angeles Quake Bindings" (that is bind mouse1 +forward; bind mouse2 +jump) especially entertaining, keeping my left hand free while running around the map like crazy.

Um, the only thing it changed for me was added autojump and disabled strafing midair (when I tried it just stopped midair)

And I didn't mean any offense by the earlier comment, it just looked like it was some sort of self-extracting archive at first glance, not a simple replacement for the ezquake.exe. My bad

Will dakoth quit playing upon finding that MVDSV and KTX are run by Russians and ezQuake has 6 Russians on the team?

BLASPHEMY!

JK

But uh yeah, this feature doesn't seem to be a problem imo. I think it takes more skill to use this for perfect accel jumps than to not use it. Also dakoth, make sure you are using +forward +back +moveleft +moveright instead of the movement script that uses +mforward +mback +mleft +mright

Yup, but I'm using my mouse to jump, which might make a difference.

The days of DOOM where all about making sure your SHIFT key was stuck for that good old 'autorun'.

Kind of funny, this would make KTX broken ankle redundant.

you had to keep pressing JUMP in painkiller though right?

and i hate the air control with cl_easymove 1, but that's a good thing since otherwise it would be overpowered

There was a config hack for autorun without holding anything down. I don't remember it, Povo-Hat told me about it so maybe he does.

Yeah open up default.cfg, set joyb_speed to 31. No more paperweight/keyboard hacking/friend holds shift for you.

I use to have +mlook on shift in quake because I was so used to holding down shift from doom2

and < > for left and right. And mouse2 for forward and no backwards key!
