I'm trying to draw my own crosshair for EZQuake for the first time.
All I get is a nice crosshair with a big 64x64 pixel black square in the middle.
Is there any color which should be used as a background? I used MSPain, btw, maybe
theres the problem.

You have to use a format and editor that supports saving transparent "color" or saving some color as transparent.

GIMP is a free editor and easy enough for this kind of thing.

White is the color that takes directly to the crosshaircolor value, but you can use other colors in the image to make different mixes.

omg... mspaint?
Are you using Win 3.11 as well?

File format like png supports tranparency, I suggest you have a look at those

Ah, thank's both of you! I remember now, but it's been like, hmm, 15-20 years since I hacked
bitmaps on the C= Amiga.
