didnt wanna write a new post about it so Ill just put a comment here until it apears on the front page!
EQLs Last semifinal is between tVS vs cMF.
cMF just added mem (shiva) before the playoffs started and won easily 3-0 vs oblivion in the quarterfinals.

Fix
Fifi
hlt
mem

Thats the team tVS will face.

tVS team:
milton
ihminen
blAze
xantom

I heard a discussion between Riker and mem the other day about how bad todays Quakers are compared to the previous years div0 players.
Quote mem: The only div0s left are Reppie and some tVS players.

I hope they can chock tVS abit and win atleast 2 maps, that would be sweet.

My earlier prediction about Slackers winning EQL went down the drain as they lost 3-2 vs Druidz in the other semifinal game.
Druidz are looking pretty hot and played some tight pracs vs tVS just before their semifinal.

They have some problem on dm3 and will probably be raped there vs tVS in the finals if reppie doesnt play his best game of the year.
Its actually not Milton vs Druidz or something like that, its more like Reppie vs tVS.
lakso, razor, bps, goblin, you all haveto be on top to be able to win atleast 2 maps.

GGS, will be fun

enjoy

Last semi final? there are 5 semi finals to be played

I don't get that mem quote, if reppie should be one of the last div0 players. And he hasn't gone semi-active like most. How come a rusty ParadokS can keep up with him then? I see a lot of newcomers doing as good as reppie in both 4on4 and 1on1, secondly I don't even remember when FS was ever on top of the table?

I see people claiming that the skill level has gone down because of div0 players quiting, but I've never seen any real proof of this.

I've seen lots of former div0 players doing comebacks, and most of the time they never get to the same level as before. Is this because they simple do not try hard enough? Or might it be that those who stayed actually improved while they were gone?

So what people are saying is that a 2003 LA, a 2004 Slackers or a 2001 FF would simple just rape todays tVS?

I totally agree on Zalons counter questioning here.
I bet riker and mem consider themself as "previous years div0 players".
Speccing mem in the cmf-oblivion game last night did not impress me at all. It rather disappointed me. So I guess it's most rubbish. No old team ever were as good as todays tVS team. cheers
2009-05-12, 12:15
I don't really get that quote either and I never said it. I know i was on the server when someone said it. I'm pretty sure it wasn't riker either..
2009-05-12, 12:23
And bps, I'm actually quite satisfied with my games vs oblivion considering my current setup. Even though my ping is better now, I find it pretty hard to play some serious qw on a laptop and a cheap mouse from Clas Ohlson. I'm not here to impress anyone, just to play some qw for fun
2009-05-12, 12:33
Well in any case I would point out that we played many very even games with those teams with lineups nowhere near as solid as our current one. It's true that many great players have quit but I don't think we'd be raped by any team.

And thank you for that, as thats what it's all about - fun

Of course some see the drama as the fun part

I would agree with what people say about there not being as many div0 clans, but maybe tVS doesn't fit into what we used to call div0, and are now just that bit better than anyone before.

It could also be that tVS is just harvesting glory on their combined years of teamplay practice, and consistency.

Druidz is one of the teams that has evolved pretty well the past year they've build a team of div1 players, from clans that never really made it big. FS/SuddenDeath and some individually skilled players. But with time and practice they are now set for the final.

And I'm sure there are enough potential in the scene for someone else to do the same, you'll just have to invest some time in practice.

Also if the current div0 teams think there are too few div0 players, maybe they should start taking action into their own hands, new top players won't just magically appear. Someone needs to help 'em get there, and getting a spot on an already functioning team is the best help anyone could ever get.

I was pleased when i saw tVS adding Luckyshot to their team, I was kinda sad when XantoM then joined tho, but if that was the way to keep him in the game, then thats great

But if top teams would start adding players with potential at least for participating in pracs. That would be a start.

I also see some top players helping out lower clans, people like fix and zero.
2009-05-12, 14:00
No reason to be sad Zalon, we gave him a fair chance as a tryout but you must also be ready to face the facts. Not everyone has the talent to become a top player. Most don't actually. No amount of help or training will change that.

I started playing BF2142 when it came out after only playing QW before. It only took me a week to start winning every map on public servers etc. Was top #1 mech pilot in Finland for long. That was against ppl who no doubt had played CS and previous installments of BF before. No one helped me either. Not that help wouldn't hurt in the beginning especially, but in the end it's all about the talent and desire to win.
2009-05-12, 14:57
Yeah thats true, but there are many talented players out there, who currently plays in lower div clans. And could probably be boosted to div0/1 fast with some help.

I don't know who to pick, but like everyone in QK was div4 1 year ago.
2009-05-12, 15:24
Yeh but there's no point to break QK they need their own members. When we needed a replacement for Diki we looked everywhere but at least in Finnish scene there really isn't any promising newcomers (nor comebacks for that matter). :/
2009-05-12, 15:42
not even xenic, most active finnish qw player atm? :E or why not mato/katsku from hips? I'm sure with a good teacher these guys could become solid div0 material!
2009-05-12, 16:38
It's hard to compare QW teams from different "eras" to eachother. While i consider the current shape of tVS to be the best QW team ever, i would still say that the old Legeartis/FF, Slackers and Fragomatic teams would've been fierce contenders. Especially f0m impressed through their telepathic way of playing the game with mm2 only.
2009-05-12, 17:05
riker owns all
2009-05-12, 17:58
Why ain't riker in any team?

And yeah blAze, they need their own players - but as Hagge mentioned, there are good finnish alternatives, also i remember Medar being mentioned in the past.
2009-05-12, 18:29
Of those mentioned only xenic probably has the potential to go all the way, but afaik there has been some bad blood between him and some tvs guys so it would be a bit difficult match. I dont need players to be best friends forever but they have to be able to keep it professional.
2009-05-12, 20:25
hehe I like the professionalism attitude
2009-05-13, 05:40
Well that's understandable blaze, it's quite hard to play with someone with a bad attitude

Sassa wrote "Thats the team tVS will face." How do you know that? Have you asked them? I hope mazer will play, he's done a solid performance throughout the whole season and deserves to play in the semifinals! If mem doesn't get in better shape quite fast, I think mazer feels like the better contestant
2009-05-13, 13:46
Well according to persuader anyone (thats right _ANYONE_) can become div0 with enough practice since he does not believe in talent at all when it comes to computer games since it is not irl. Last time i checked playing computer games is as much irl as anything else

I agree with blAze, talent is required alongside practice
2009-05-13, 15:09
Hehe great theory by persuader, but ofcourse that's just bullshit.
When q3 launched I was incredibly active and beat quite a few players that later attended CPL tourneys, but during a few months all of them beat me quite comfortably, while I made some progress but not like them, simply because I lacked the talent.
I stayed a subtop ctf player during my active period, but kinda stopped playing duels as that lost it's fun and got frustating

I've followed the qw scene for quite a while also when I didn't play and I think tVS is the best there has ever been so far. Ofcourse it would be great if we could check that vs the old SR, but that's not possible
2009-05-13, 15:42
Sometimes its just the game that fits to your playstyle! Myself plays Q3/QL 2 divisions higher then qw, but I enjoy both
