Started playing Quakeworld in 1997. Always been active in the community. With strong opinions about the game and the path it should follow, always fought the conservative qw ideals. Lately has been involved in bringing new players into the game, making their life easier and promoting different game modes and maps.

Quakenet Web irc
As everyone knows, qw "lives" in quakenet irc. Sometimes i wanted to connect to irc but had no irc client. the solution was to use a web irc. First i used cgi:irc, then www.mibbit.com came... but those have one problem: they connect always using the same ip. quakenet doesnt like that, so we were banned for a while (g-lined).

The solution has come.
Finally Quakenet has its own web irc which you can connect from any browser. Check it. Its simple and fast to connect and you can add it to your own website as an i-frame. You can even auth with Q prior to connecting here.

You can use it to connect directly to some channels, using an url like this:
http://webchat.quakenet.org/?nick=Mushis&channels=qw.pt,qwctf,ibh,qhlan,qwdl

This is a solution i always wanted. A link in the qw.nu homepage would be great for the rookies and everyone who wants to join our community. We become closer using these features.

Hope we can integrate this nicely into nQuake.com

Wouldn't it be possible to do something useful with the IRC client that has been integrated into ezQuake, but having to start ezQuake just to get onto IRC is maybe not that painless compared to the webchat.

I added a link so noobs can click #qwrookie on nquake.com and be taken to that channel in their browser.

Thats really cool. Theres alot of players out there that dont use IRC and dont realise that it opens them up to most active qw players. Really Important.

Added it to QW-DEV website: http://qw-dev.net/irc

you can also use something like logmein.com (free) or gotomypc.com (or plain old realvnc.com if your home pc is not behind firewalls/shitty isps) to remotely access your home PC and irc from there
