Is there currently any interest in playing in a CTF tournament?
I've discussed this with Romeo (qwcl) and if there's enough people interested it might be possible to start up qwcl again.

I'd love to play classic Capture the Flag. CTF with hook and runes is a bit too difficult (although I did good in NQR-CTF league).

I don't think i've tried QWCTF with some real action but in my eyes it seems to suck. With bunnyjumping and hook without railgun(!!!) it's just too fast and just seems FFA:ish. Q2CTF is the shit.

removeing hook and runes treated same as change something in dm/tdm, imagine we remove rl from dm, do u will paly such weird dm? i think no. so, native ctf players will continue play native ctf.

Get this thoughts after talking with ult (US tdm/ctf player), few months before.

who really cares what the hardcore ctf players think, if you put a cvar to disable hook and runes... what bad could that do really?

U r misunderstood me. Nothing bad if we do such variable and command for toggling this, but also nothing interesting for hardcore ctf players at the same time.

Agreed. You've only got to look at CTF's popularity compared with DM/TF over the years.. Time for a change i say!

the main reason why so many of you dm players havent played ctf is this: Back in the days when we all started to play qw the most of us where on modem, and not so many of us had the patience to download a couple of mb.s patch.(plz correct me if im wrong, im just speculating)

give it a try with the hook and runes.

the hook is not hard, any normal skilled player will learn to handle it in a day or less.
the 4 runes is even easier: strenght=dbl damage, regeneration=regenerates health/armor to 150/150 (if u have an armor), haste=i think its 1,5xspeed, and resistance=half damage taken.

Someone said that it seems "ffa:ish", i would say that theres a lot of tp in ctf, but much faster tp.

So if anyone is interested in learning some basic hook moves or other basic ctf stuff feel very free to talk to me in #dqm or #jokkmokk

Well, as much as I personally enjoy the hook and runes, I think the only way QWCTF has a future is if it's modified in some way. The CTF league a year or so ago suffered from low activity and weening interest. No point in trying that again; should give hookless/runeless ctf a shot.

QWCTF is the only CTF-mod with runes and hook. CTF = Capture The Flag (no mention about runes&hook here)

Zaq, I'd say that isnt an issue, since most guys (at least what I've seen) who try CTF like it first, it's fun to play with hook & runes. Nevertheless, there's just way too much stuff packed in there: quad(+pent/ring), 2 flags, 4 runes and 8 guys cruising with dreadful speed on a rather small map.

If someone have interest in such maps, i know at least one mapper, which alredy porting some q3 maps. And if this maps will be usefull for some actual playing, i think he give more effort %)

perhaps thats not the issue, but i mean the hook isnt super important, just like in dm some ppl like to move fast and jump around and some ppl like to sneek and both is possible.
The runes can be to much sometimes though.

But i can try without hook and runes.
but i still <3 hook

yeah id love to see some new maps.
if he make one map for a start i promise i will gather a couple of ppl to try it 2on2,3on3 and 4on4 to se if it has any potential.

im pretty sure hook aint that hard to learn..
tried it ones in cpma (it sure aint the same) and took me only
a couple of mins to get handy with the usage in just humping around..

but for first, just playing some plain modern ctf wo do it for me

Do I actually have to start a new thread about interest in QWCTF? Discussing anything else but QWCTF was not the point of this thread, nor am I going to touch anything else even with a stick.
