Is there a way to turn off console transparency in FuhQuake and/or EZQuake?

I've looked thru every cvar in cvarlist and checked the gl_ section and haven't seen anything.

(I'm trying to help a player who is stuck with a laptop where maybe this is the only feature acting up).
