in console there's always that msg: 'wrote server list contents to disk' i wonder what it exactly means.
(my ingame browser doesn't show anything 90% of the times so i always have to check websites to get ips. i'm trying to figure out what's my problem)

you're right. it was turned on. since it's off there is 0 problem left. every search works now. thanks a lot!

Usually, it just indicates that the current cache save for the server list has been written to your local drive. If your in-game browser is not showing servers most of the time, it is a problem related to network or firewall settings rather than the message.
