Hi, I wanted to see the "Quake done quick with a vengeance" speed run in a Quake client, but I can't make it work with ezQuake. Does anyone know if it's possible?

The installation is straightforward:
1) Create a folder called qdqwav in the Quake folder.
2) Extract the pak0 file with the speed run into the folder
3) Start Quake with the command-line option "-game qdqwav"

However, nothing happens when I try. Does anyone know how to make it work? Thanks for reading! :-)

Not possible, ezquake is a Quakeworld engine, while the speedruns are done on vanilla quake (sometimes refered to as netquake), the demo format is different in quakeworld and so vanilla demos cant be played back.
For speedrun stuff you should use JoeQuake which you can get here http://quake.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/ (get the quake-light zip), but you can probably get it to work in something like quakespasm as well

ezQuake can play back the individual demos, it just can't execute the vanilla quake mod that seems to be in that zip file.

playdemo qdqwav/e1m1

etc - though you will get better playback of .dem files using other clients.
