:/ But we are still able to substitute the tdm-rapecloset with the original one if both teams agree... Right Link?

Yes, it would just be plain stupid otherwise. The TDM version is there to "eaze the pain" if you know you will get hammered pretty bad. And I hope "TDM haters" understand and respect that :>

Modified E2M2TDM please! The theory of the map was good, it just needs some tweaks.

For example, restore the end area of the map, or at least put SOMETHING behind the RL spawn. Also, there should be another way to get from YA to the start area as it was too easy to get pinned in. And definitely remove a lot of cells - it was too simple for a quad runner to just bunny around the entire map with quad shaft.

Finally some feedback that made sense.... :>

Coz...look at this mail I got a few days ago:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: John Romero <john@rome.ro>
Date: 25. mai 2006 01:20:36

Lars,

Actually I do remember you contacting me about this. I have all the
original .map files but they're not ready for release - I need to dig them
up and prepare them. Id Software has already given their permission for
their release. Keep pinging me about this every week or so in case I fall
off the wagon....

Romero is without a doubt a cool dude :>

About e2m2tdm: you could make a way from RL/YA to start and viceversa, maybe a teleporter could work. Cells could be reduced, yes. Some ppl also complaint about the lift at RA. Any thoughts on that?

In January of this year I've released a custom TDM map that is ment for 4on4 and 2on2 gameplay. I would appreciate if you considered using it if a non-TBM TDM tourney was to take place. It also comes with a .loc file.

Map Download:

If this map is found to be in need of some item placement tweaking, I'd be more than interested in working with some "pro" QW players on a "enragedv2" release

would that make releasing compiled .bsp files legal?

no as the textures would still be non-GPL

you could manually retexture the maps using QRP textures, compile those into .bsp and release those though

but in both cases the map checksum would be different to the 'official' id ones so it wouldn't really help with equake (i assume that was what you were thinking about - bundling dm1-6.bsp)

The Quake source was released years ago. So i guess hacking on .bsp files doesnt matter anyway. When John Romero says he has talked to the guys at ID and they say its ok to release the .map files, then I guess its legal :>

Either way, it makes no sence to release the source code, but make it unlegal to hack on .bsp files, just because ID was lazy and never bothered to release the .map files :>

jOn: Im gonna make a page very soon, and ppl can signup/feedback on the project :>

hehe :>

If you havent seen it, go DL this 4on4 e3m3tdmb demo:

http://www.challenge-tv.com/index.php?mode=demodetail&demo=24258

It's some real old school players who knows the map: Goljat, Stalin, Pusling, Dizzy, Whimp, Link, TCO and I think last player is RigorMortis. Fun with Quad on that map, some nice bores etc :>

I remember Z and GO used to play this map, raping each other.

Why not use the same maps as in nqr3 with cmt 3and4 and without e3m6.

For the simple reason ID maps suck. I do not quite understand the reasoning why so many people insist on using craptacular ID maps while there is a TRUCKLOAD of true great custom maps out there.

Old habits die hard :>

If Aerowalk had been released, say 2001, it would NEVER have been popular. So it is not the quality of the map that matters, its the community around it.

It takes some serious promotion skillz and stamina to get new maps "medicore accepted" by the vast majority. It will be interesting to see just how popular this project will be.

www.qw4ever.com should be online within a week (hopefully). I am waiting for host and webpage to be finished.

Already got an irc channel on Q-net: #qw4ever
