It looks like the 'fastest' preset in ezq 0.3 is not the fastest, actually it is almost the slowest, at least here with a radeon card and OSS drivers (tested with fps.qwd).
High eycandy: 79.2 fps
eycandy: 172.6 fps
faithful: 267.2 fps
fastest: 150.3 fps

I am aware that applying the presets one after another may not completely clear the state, however the general direction should be right.

Some numbers for comparsion:
fodquake devel version (0.4):
High: 204.1 fps
fast: 627.0 fps
drawflat: 672.0 fps

The culprit seems to be r_drawflat that for whatever reasons eats 1/3 of the fps.

Can anyone confirm this for nvidia?

That ezquake 0.3 though, that had to be one early build. ;-) I'm not on 3.0 right now so can't really test it for you good sir!

well, yes, it is about ezq 0.3.

fps.qwd is a short demo with lots of ppl shooting in dm2 big. I remember vague to have downloaded it from this very site.
Anyway, the actual demo wouldn't matter, it's about r_drawflat eating lots of fps.

There is no ezQuake 0.3. There is the latest dev version of 3.0. Then you have fodquake 0.3 which is somewhat recent.

Which one do you mean?

I did just test the r_drawflat command on ezquake2.2

[img=http://s13.postimg.org/kely9hqyb/fps_with_drawflat.jpg]

[img=http://s27.postimg.org/7a0hj0ezj/fps_without_drawflat.jpg]

[img=http://s14.postimg.org/8gsu0iql9/fps2_without_drawflat.jpg]

as you can see there is well a really big noticable difference.

my system

AMD 6core on 3.30
and NVIDIA g-force 560GTX
with 16 gig

Oke guys ill make a brief post here for giving players who needs more fps a quick on howto guide. 'THX TO ADRENALIN'
First of all
1. go to www.quakeworld.nu / click on nquake
2. press the play now button 'it requiers java'
3. after this is done go to C:\Users\youraccountname\AppData\Local\.nqonline\
4 here under .nqonline you can paste your qw folder with all the configs and whatever you want like a normal folder layout.
5. when playing you need to start with nquake 'there should be a shortcut created on your desktop'
6. happy fragging.
for me it gives definitly +300 fps more and even alot more on some spots.

screenshot.
