Hi,

I have a freshly installed nQuake, haven't touched any console commands except my movement controls and mouse sensitivity..

Now my problem is I want to see my speed.

http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/Bunnyhop

I have scr_newhud1, and show_speed 1, and in the console it says the speedometer is supposed to be in the top right corner but all I see is my ping and my fps counter.

Can anyone explain how to see my speed? I really want to learn how to do tricking in this game and it's hard to learn when you dont have a real idea of how fast you're going.

Hey,

welcome!

I believe the command you're looking for is hud_speed_show. set it to 1.

you can search for commands by entering in console:
/cvarlist *<text to search>*

so type
/cvarlist *speed*
and it will display every command with "speed" on its name.

You can ask this on irc to get a more promply response. click on the green chat button on the bottom right of this page and connect.
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

In general if there's some "old" command that's not working then it's always a good idea to check if there is a hud_ command for the same thing. Another example is cl_gameclock vs hud_gameclock where cl_gameclock does nothing in the default nQuake config as it seems adapted to use hud_gameclock instead.

hud_* commands are for use with scr_ newhud 1
older commands are for use with scr_newhud 0
both will be displayed with scr_newhud 2
