Check it out: http://qw.quakephil.com/qstream (note: it will not always be online, since I don't have a dedicated machine to stream 24/7, yet, so.... if its offline, it will be online later )

Let me know if you like it, how to improve it, etc!

And subscribe/follow to my http://twitch.tv/quakephil http://youtube.com/quakephil http://twitter.com/quakephil

One question I have for the ezquake gurus - how to make sure it is always tracking someone? Sometimes hen you join a new map/change map, you are "floating" and not tracking anyone...

Hey there phil. I was wondering if for streaming purposes you could use a spec hud and a cfg config that lowers the quality (no-texture like, meaning less colours are on screen = less data to send, in theory) but still keeps it pretty? Would be really nice.

Will definitely be watching this stream FAR MORE than often.

The problem with such configs would be that it would turn off many if not most non-qw people. Using some "high resolution retexture" things is one thing (turns of a minority of people with good taste!!!!11) but making it look like a 3 color game will be bad for many many people. Whenever I link friends to ongoing matches where such streams are available, they close them shortly after.

Imagine if Starcraft 2 was streamed looking like Geometry Wars.

I once thought using single color textures for streaming was a good idea too, but since then the Internet got faster, video streaming in high resolution much simpler etc.

So better stream the game as it looks like if you can.

Yeah, "no textures but still pretty" is kind of oxymoron. Also this was usually necessary when the vid quality was low due to weak compression. This stream seems to maintain high quality even with textures.

Anyway, I am missing just two things - "you fragged phil" sign (/show ownfrags) and clock that shows when does what respawn (/show itemsclock).

Great stuff! I wonder how much it costs you on electricity, bandwidth, etc

Derp, I thought I had itemsclock on. Gonna turn that on. As for ownfrags, not sure if that adds anything. I want to keep as much clutter off the screen as possible.

Yeah, the config will stay eyecandy (everything that has been said about no-texture configs above is correct) but I do want suggestions on tweaking the settings.

The laptop is low watt PSU, and I pay bandwidth per month so might as well use it
