The NetQuake community in both North America, EU, and Brazil combined is about 30 or more players. EzQuake is a very feature-rich client, and we would like to see
EzQuake being able to support connecting to NetQuake servers in addition to QuakeWorld.
This would really bridge the gap between the 2 communities, and enrich each other at
the same time.

We would also like to see a server browser where both NetQuake and QuakeWorld servers are displayed in the client server browser, and the 2 servers can be distinguished by including a "NQ/QW" tag.

The list of all NetQuake servers are at http://www.quakeone.com/servers .

Thanks

It would be interesting if you elaborated a bit on the cost/benefit analysis for this. Why would it make sense to implement something like this for 30 players when there are more like 3000 players on the other side?

Ake: We don't have anywhere close to even 500 players, come on

It's also been done in ZQuake (nqconnect), so the cost is bridging two communities. There is little to no downside..

I would like ezquake to be left as a QW-ONLY client. Besides the shitload of nq clients out there, why do you want to bridge the gap? Nq is soooo pointless.com, go play qw, or use an already existing nq client.

Bent why does it hurt you if someone wants to play both?

ZQuake, FTE, and DarkPlaces already do this.

I tried to merge the zQuake nq support into ezQuake once, it worked but there were some incompatibilities with some mods, which would disconnect me after 30 seconds. I just gave up after that.

The only nice thing about this is that you can play netQuake at 20ping then at maybe 3am u can connect to another country and play QW at 120 ping; basically letting you bounce around servers without closing clients, using different settings etc.

this would be a valuable feature for ezquake. being the most used client in qw, it is even more important.
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

So in reality, you can get the NetQuake experience 24/7?
