Hello!

Is it possible to set up a game like this with uneven teams somehow?

yeah it is possible, don't think there any servers available today that doesnt have a limit on number of players for each teams. But its possible to change this if you put up your own server, just look in the ktx server config, should be a command for how many players is necessary for each team in 4on4 mode for example. I know we did this loads of times with kteams at lans back in the days, dont think much has changed with ktx.

So how many noobs can a top player realistically play and win against, in the best possible conditions? I would guess deathmatch 1 with powerups on a map compact enough to let you get all the goodies and only have to deal with a disorganized crowd of 100/0 boomstickers. Oh, maybe some lava too dm4?

more very weak opponents == more frags
As I remember quake supports up to 32 players.
So answer is 31.

On a lan way back (1998ish) we tried 2vs6 on dm3. The 2 best players teamed together. Turned out it was very easy for them to win. The rest of us sucked and we had a hard time finding anyone to kill

I think the earliest demo I have of myself playing was a 1v3 game against modem players. Quite funny actually seeing how badly I was playing and yet still dominating!

As for a top player playing against noobs Milton could easily beat 31 players. The main problems are:
-Lack of spawnpoints in most maps, you are bound to get a lot of team telefrags
-Danger of teamkills
-It is just difficult to make the numbers count, communication is virtually impossible (especially for noobs) and it's not like more than 4 or 5 players will ever be in a position to get a clean shot on him

Dmm4 with team damage disabled might be a bit more interesting...
