If people have the same setup and sounds in the same folders as you have you can make others play that sound!. So far I only know Clan TFT uses it and it is very useful (I played for TFT MTF and still for TFT NTF). A message will look like:
bind i "say_team $\MIr: Incoming - %l ^tft/def/incomng.wav"

This will play a sound for ALL people on YOUR team WHERE-EVER they are on the map. As long as they have a sound file called incomng.wav in fortress/sound/tft/def/. In the heat of battles you cant see a message but you will hear the sound which can improve communications especially in defense.

After you run ezQuake (with or without -ruleset smackdown) type:
tp_soundtrigger ~
filter #a

in the console.
Now every mm2 (messagemode2 message - in other words say_team) that contains a substring starting with ~ and ending with #a will be hidden and it tell ezQuake to play the sound specified between those characters (~ and #a). As an example of sound, we'll take demon\djump.wav (don't include the extension).
Ask a player with the same team to type something like this:
say_team I'm at %l ~demon/djump #a

And you'll hear the sound associated with a jumping fiend.
