Participating in EQL is both fun and challenging for most, but having your team work as a lean, mean fighting machine makes it a bit more fun.
So is your team ready?

Here are some tips to improve and prepare for the season.

::: SYNC UP! :::

clients:
Everyone should preferebly be using same client version, and preferably the latest allowed by EQL ( http://eql.quakeworld.nu/eql13/static.php?view=rules#5.1 )

teamconfig:
It's important everyone is using the same teambinds so there are no inconsistencies in MM2 communication. A nice example is slackers' config that can be found here: http://murdoc.slackers.dk/slackers_tp.cfg
NOTE: good idea is to save this file to qw/slackers_tp.cfg and add cl_onload exec slackers_tp.cfg in your config.

skins:
having individual skins is not a must but it can come in handy - I personally prefer it so I can easy identify teammates in the field. A nice skins package can be found at Slackers homepage as well: http://murdoc.slackers.dk/skins.zip

locs:
Make sure everyone has same LOC files so you don't get one mate pointing bridge-high and another one is pointing b-hi for example. Again here is a nice collection based on flintheart's loc work: http://murdoc.slackers.dk/locs.zip

::: Voice communication :::

There are different opinions on which client is best. Ventrilo, mumble or TeamSpeak.
It's a balance between what gives best quality and what works best. Some people have FPS problems with mumble, others have quality issues with teamspeak and who still uses ventrilo?

In any case make sure all your teammates are using the same client (obviously), have it configured optimal and that there are no technical issues. If a mic is broken etc. buy a new mic!
There is nothing more annoying than having to play official or even practice games and 2 mates cannot use voice cause of donkey problems. So do yourself and your team a favor and get it sorted.

::: Scheduling :::

In slackers we use http://doodle.com on a weekly basis to see who can play and when - makes it easier to schedule with other teams. If more teams would do this it would be even easier
very nice page, you simply add event, highlight a week, type in times for like 18 19 20 21 22 and paste the link to your mates and they write their name up and what times/days they can play. Have it in your tactic channel topic for quick access

-------------------

Can't really think of more at the moment, but feel free to add something in replies if you feel there is missing something that could help other teams prepare for a full QW 4on4 season
ready!

Under Clients everyone should also make sure they know how to turn off all their cheats for EQL games i.e. to pass f_modified f_scripts etc to avoid unnecessary delays

Also I'd recommend investigating pings (including proxy routing) to different servers so that when it comes to finding a server things run smoothly. In particular this applies if you have clans in your division featuring players from ghetto timezones (north america, UK & EIRE, Portugal, Russia etc). Even if you have always been playing pracs in dk/se/fi it may be that come an actual EQL game they want a more even server somewhere else.
