Has anyone tried running Quake one one of these processors without a discrete video card? They're
supposed to have a more or less decent GPU built in (supporting DirectX 10, OGL 2.1, capable of HD playback up to 1080p), and I'm wondering if the 3D performance will be good enough to do some casual QW gaming.

I have an intel X3100 in my macbook. It is working ok-ish for casual QW non-competitive playing (640x480). Performance was disappointing though compared to the intel marketing blabla. Also performance was decreasing drastically with high resolution textures (not playable).
I would expect current discrete generation to perform a little bit better but not by a great margin.
I finally ended up playing 640x480 in software as it turned out to be faster than the X3100..

So did I. SW has more stable fps. Unfortunately it is impossible (yet?) to have bigger letter to use better resolution than 640x480.
