Someone on QuakeOne.net told me I should post my problem here because EzQuake developers hang around so here goes!

I wanted to start playing online so I downloaded EzQuake (someone told me its really good) so I did and it loads the game and everything. But it doesn't get any servers from the list at all.

I'm on a Apple Macintosh and here is the inside details.

Processor - Intel Core i5 - 3.06 GHz

Memory - DDR3 ram - 4GB 1333MHz

Storage - 1TB 7200 rpm

Video - ATi Radeon HD 5670 - 512MB GDDR3 SDRAM

Operating System - Mac OS X v10.6.4

I don't know if that will help but I do play with wifi and Quakeworld works fine just not EzQuake.

Thanks anyone who can help ^^

go to http://www.quakeservers.net/quakeworld/servers/pl=1/so=8/ and search for a server near you that has players on it. write down the server adress, don't forget the port number. start ezquake and hit esc. in the console type connect followed by the server address, you should join the server.

Yeah I can do that. But the server list doesn't work. If I am going to connect with the console I may as well Just use QuakeWorld =O

Well... there are other improvements in ezQuake than the server browser. ^^

It is kind of hard to troubleshoot your problem with the amount of information you have provided though. Is master.quakeservers.net in the sources tab? Has it been selected (different colour)? Tried hitting space in the server list tab after making sure an appropriate source (or sources) has been selected in the sources tab?

I didn't know about the server sources. It doesn't look like there are any. How do I add them? Also here is a screenshot from the Finder.

Press 'n', then type in 'master.quakeservers.net' and make sure the type is set to master server. Which version of ezQuake are you using by the way? As far as I know, ezQuake will automatically add (among other sources) master.quakeservers.net as a source if the list is blank these days. If all else fails, I still think you should consider nQuake. It's basically ezQuake set up with nice textures, configs, bots and much more.

Thanks I did install nQuake using the Terminal and it works. Gets the servers and everything. Only thing is I found weird is its so bright. Like a 1.8 Gamma desktop or more. Is there any way to turn that down a bit? Everything looks so washed out and the levels just don't look realistic at all when everything is as bright as it is.

Also, is there a way to make the monsters higher quality like the textures and items are? In coop, single player and deathmatch seeing all the pretty textures and old GL players/monsters along with their backpacks just looks kinda outta place if you know what I mean xD

Uhm.. Doesn't the gamma or brightness slider in the options menu work? gl_gamma in the console?

I don't really know much about monster textures. This community (quakeworld.nu) is mostly about the multiplayer aspect of Quake 1, so maybe you'll have better luck with single player questions over at QuakeOne.com. Also, there are MUCH better single player clients than ezQuake.

EDIT: Oh, sorry. Didn't realize you had already been redirected here from QuakeOne.

No thats ok. I was only directed here from QuakeOne because I was asking Multiplayer questions.

Say... you are a smart cookie! I will have to try that. And yeah I figured ez-Quake wasn't the best single player client because quicksave is weird or saving at all is for that matter.
