same as

cl_sidespeed 450, cl_forwardspeed 450, cl_backspeed 450

Should be, unless the server is using non-default speed values, which really shouldn't happen.

There was a great post explaining everything on the old qw nu forum before it got hacked by Tonik.Basically what he said there was a difference in "feeling" when you changed values for eg. try forward back speeds 320 and side 508 vs forward back 400 side 350.But! the difference in movement is only felt when you hit 2 movement keys at once, like when you hold +forward and +left or right.

The difference comes from differing ratio between cl_forwardspeed/cl_backspeed and cl_sidespeed. The two extremes are 508:320, 320:508. What changes is your viewing angle relative to movement direction when bunny hopping (and accelerating on the ground during initial bunny hop) and your angle of direction on the ground because one direction is more 'powerful' than another. With a 1:1 ratio (or no ratio) your diagonals on the ground are at 45 degrees, your regular (+moveleft/+moveright alternate) bunny hops have your movement direction and viewing angle both the same, and +moveleft (+) +forward bunny hops have you leaning 45 degrees (i reckon) into the direction you add to +forward...

320/508 feels better for a lot of things but 320/320 feels better for +moveleft +forward bunnying.

i use no ratio. It seems 320:508 forwardspeed:sidespeed allows you to accelerate more swiftly (in a tighter arc on the ground) so you need less of a run up, sting uses this. I don't think it would be worth changing because it affects EVERYTHING. But then again its probably not worth discussing such arcane qw knowledge when its a dead game, just forget all the config bs and play as much as you can while you still can, devs have done a great job keeping it alive but as many have pointed out theres only so much they can do from a labour of love. If you are spending any time configuring qw or watching demos etc. DONT, go play instead.
