I recently formatted my comp (wish I hadn't now.. - had sooo many problems), amongst other things, now I can't Quake!

Every time I goto start ezQuake, it gets to the menu, then after about 3 seconds in 800 x 600 @ 100hz, it auto-quits itself, leaving my desktop colors all faded and basically unreadable.

I've tried everything: latest Geforce Forceware drivers, the original drivers that came with the card etc. - nothing.

I tried dropping the in game hz to 60 and it actually lasted a bit longer, but then did the same thing..

Not sure if its related but I recently re-pasted my cpu and put a bit too much on apparently. - works fine, and desktop is all fine, but I couldn't reformat for some reason when using XP cd. It kept auto-rebooting at a certain stage during install.. :/

ANY HELP/SUGGESTIONS MUCH APPRECIATED!

and don't say 'buy a new comp..'

Thanks

Could be your CPU overheating?

Probably CPU overheating. Or a dying video card. It definitely sounds like hardware issue.

I've stress tested CPU and it gets errors within 10 seconds

Also ran tests on my vid card and it seems fine..

Gonna swap CPU out now and see if that _is_ the problem. -- think it is.

Thanks for the help.
