I was just reading http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/Smooth_Quake

there it suggests that you should set your cl_maxfps related to your monitors refresh rate.
my refresh rate at 640x is 120hz when i set max fps to 240,360 etc, its very jerky and nowhere near as smooth as a multiplier of 77... 154, 231, 308 etc

mine feels alot smoother when set as 231 or 308...... 240 or 360 is very jerky

is there something wrong with my end or is that information out of date.

thanks.
