Hi guys, i was browsing youtube and typed in quake and i found the quakeworld trailer and it looked really cool. Am downloading and installed nquake atm. I could just use some advice and tips as this game looks totally different from anything else i have played (Counterstrike)... Does anyone have any tips. Would be good if you guys could recommend me some servers to play on. I get the feeling i am gonna be killed very quickly in this game hehe. Ah well its sunday and i got nothing better to do!

Thanks

Shinoda

type /connect quake.xs4all.nl:27500 in console
that's a nice dutch server I also play on. I'm still a rookie too but it's a lot of fun there!
Ofcourse you get your ass kicked but if you keep playing for a while you'll be making frags in pretty quickly.
Just practise now and then and read the tips on this forum for gameplay, map tactics, control tips such as bunny hopping, etc.

Have fun!!

I use "The All-Seeing Eye" server browser, very handy to check servers in 2 seconds. You can also add "Buddies" to a list and everytime they are playing on some server it will tell you.

hi guys, thanks i been playing on that rookie server and having a lot of fun ... i also played my first duel on dm2 just now. Man its intense 1v1. I read up on dm2 tactics and have been practicing rocket jumps and learning to interpret sounds. I actually won . I think i am picking up this game pretty quick, altho i am having trouble bunnying i keep bumping into walls. I tried a dm4 duel but got beaten. didnt get 1 frag . guy always had ra.

anyway i uploaded my dm2 demo, if anyone wants to watch and comment... thanks guys!

If you want to check out demos of other players, have a look at Challenge TV

Man you made the right switch!! I was in Cal-m for CSS but when I returned to Quake from like an 11 year hiatus I totally remembered why I loved this game. Just think of bunnyhopping the same as you did in CS, I know you couldn't really do it, but it worked down hills, etc. The action is so much better in Quake and people don't get lucky like they do in CS.. Sure you don't need the aim and such but in Quake you need to learn where to shoot and how to control the map as the others mentioned. Having good aim won't win every map and that's why I love this game. I love this game. I love this game. okay im done.. By the way the amount you can improve in Quake is by far way higher then the amount you could ever improve in CS. When I left Quake no one could bunnyhop and when I came back in August everyone was doing it, it's like the cool new thing you know? Anyways have fun and don't quit!!

P.S. The community is also not as immature as CS, which is also a definite plus. Mostly everyone is nice and willing to help you out.

ASE buddy list has not worked for months. The program will cease to operate completely in 45 days according to emails they are sending out offering refunds for people who bought it after a certain date (presumably when Yahoo took over and destroyed it).
