Map download is slow, how do i download faster?

/rate 99999 and /setinfo drate 9999999 in console, not in chat.

Obsolete.

On most of the servers you only need to specify /cl_chunksperframe 5 on your client to get ~350kB/s download rate. This applies to servers that are run by me or put up from the MVDSV+KTX package I have made as they default this value in the configs. The other requirement is ezQuake version 1.9.

Does that apply to the xs4all FFA servers too? That's probably the most common place to run into the slow download rate problem when they change the map rotation.

Their MVDSV seems to be outdated and I don't know if FTE servers supports multichunked downloads. They do support chunked downloads but I'm not sure if Qqshka's modification is used there.

Easy fix for servers running FTE (xs4all etc) would be to tell the server admin to set "sv_maxdrate 100000" and the clients to do "setinfo drate 100000".
