Anyone know the commands needed get a QW KTX 1.33 server to delete old demos automatically. Server stuck with a load of ancient demos, it's no longer recording new ones.

Is it the old MVDSV bug where it can't deal with demos with large names?

Check the sv_demo variables from http://www.quakeservers.net/files/configs/mvdsv.cfg . You should also update MVDSV and KTX. The files are available at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118599 and http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=200890 .

What I would check is the amount of demos as MVDSV can't handle too many thousands of demos (4096 to be more precise. If you use sv_demotext, then the amount is only 2048).

-> Use smaller demomaxdirsize, like 1GB or 512MB or even less.

Absolutely, especially MVDSV. When updating KTX from SVN, make sure to backup the old qwprogs (just in case, hint: deurk ).

Yeah Renzo, but till the last official build, MVDSV had a bug where demos with very large names could not handled.

When server reaches the limit of the space available to record demos, it'll try to delete the amount of demos set in sv_demoClearOld. The problem is once it can't delete demos with large names, this demos will not be deleted, but they'll be count as they were.

So MVDSV do not skip the demos it cannot delete, it count this demos as deleted. Then you can figure it out yourselves that the number of demos with large names, will be soon bigger than the numer set on sv_demoClearOld, and no more demos will be erased.
