Yes, the "old" Macs are PowerPCs which is a different architecture compared to Intel's x86.

the only different should be the endian-ness

zquake and ezquake should both compile, they'll just need tweaks to the Makefile

hopefully ill be getting a macbook pro at some point and should be able to help out with binaries if you don't have any success on your own

osx doesn't have alsa my zquake stuff used native coreaudio, it didn't use sdl for sound only for graphics and input
