Just released another qwdrama subsite: Goldrush

This is a site where you can gamble on QuakeWorld games. The idea is to bring a little more drama and joy to the games that are being played. Read more about it in the official post at qwdrama.com.

some suggestions

more or less than 200.5 frags
1 X 0 system (for games that can tie)
worst efficiency (requires list of participants in game) - if the lists given aren't correct, the bets would be nullified
best efficiency (requires list of participants in game) - if the lists given aren't correct, the bets would be nullified
most quads (1 X 0)
most pents (1 X 0)

would be more fun to bet on stuff like this

That can already be done.

When adding a game, you select any number of options. You just will have to change the title. IE
Slackers vs KOFF (frags)
[ ] > 200
[ ] < 200

Same with the other stuff. I think I'll have to make bet groups, else the upcoming game list will be too crowded.

I'll keep the Goldrush 1.0 featurelist and wishlist in the bottom of the official newspost.

Tie. It's like spreads in sports. Many go like .5 points to avoid any possibility of a draw. I recommend the 200 is change to like 200.5 or 199.5

odds of exactly 200 frags should be extremely high in comparison to >200 and <200 in that case

I understand you can't add good odds on all games, which is why you should let the players act as bookies!

use the system they have on betfair

I want to give 4 odds on SR vs SD 2-0, I'm gonna match $100 here
some guy bets $100, and if it turns out, he wins $100x4 = $400, but if the result is ANYTHING other than 2-0, I win $100

there's no need to let people know what people are betting on right now, let them know AFTER the game!

otherwise, people can just imitate #1 on the leaderboard!

I liked the beta version better to be honest. Things I am missing:

- You removed the option of betting multiple times on the same game? And also to increase the amount bet on a game? Or am i just overlooking something?

- Also, before you got an overview of possible wins in your profile, i think.

- and there is no way to check who voted on what option?

Yeah, sure. But then just add the 2 amounts together and let them count for one bet?

Not sure if you could have any advantage in odds by placing bets on different options. I guess not, since overall the odds would become more equal like that.

The system can very much be gamed anyway if you have a number of people working together since small bets count the same as large bets towards the odds, no? Unless odds are also weighed for the size of the bet?

Oh well; I don't necesseraly want it to get very complicated or professional or 'safe' or whatever. It's fun enough as it is.

ktk was a pain in the ass to maintain at goldrush, so many players not showing up etc. but we will see what we can do

if there are 3 options to bet on, and each of them raises the other options' odds no matter how much you bet, then you can bet like this:

1 $500
X $10
2 $10

and get more out of that $500 bet than you would had you only bet on 1.

but you'll lose $20

yes, lose $20 in order to make $100 extra on that $500, that seems like it's worth it to me.

how about a 1-2 minute "regret" function? I just misread a game and bet $1900 on the wrong score, would be nice if that was regrettable during the first minute, cause it will suck having to wait a month for a refill.

everyone who is broke gets $50 every sunday, but that regret thing should be a nice option
