Hey, I'm running qw on gentoo x86_64 (kinda like your system, yes.) and it works "great".
Unfortunately there is no built-in support for alsa, so if you do not use oss (which I don't) you'll have to use a dmixer, see gentoo-wiki.com for a guide (which'll work with debian too).

Anyways, I spoke to disconnect about ezQuake and alsa, well that'll work, and you can do something like snd_device "hw:0,0" or "dmixer" or wtf you want.

So game on boy.

is there any qizmo binaries for linux/amd64 systems? i have some x64 boxes, and i cant run proxies coz on qizmo's dl site i found only linux/x86 binaries

if someone has the qizmo sources i can also port/recompile it, coz i think it will be a common problem in the future if qizmo will not support the next generation of processors...

There no qizmo sources at all.
You can make an 32bit chroot envrionment for qizmo...

btw ezQuake support ALSA since spring 2005 or smthing...

BTW... what is x64_86 arch? never heard abut 86 bit processors

if some1 give me x86_64 box or at least shell (no root privilegies requed. just give me gcc, all needed system-headers and 100MB disk quota) on it i'll try to port ezQ on it.
kill me now and burn my soul
