QuakeWorld MIX League OPEN is a 4on4 league for everyone. The QML format was originally designed for rookies/low-skilled players to have a low-commitement treshold community, in order to get more 4on4 games played, to boost 4on4 recruitement.
NO GAME DELAYS
Since it is a mix league, standins are allowed, wich means there are no game delays; if someone dont show on time, you simply get a standin (preferably a player with similar skill). Spectators are ON, so if a player is late he can then join the 2nd map. This also makes it easier for players to join the league, because you are not obligated to play everything. But, if you keep on with noshows, you get kicked out of the league and someone else replaces you.
WARNING
We are playing custom maps <3
EQUAL TEAMS
The format simply makes mix-teams each round, where players are not in any fixed teams. Players are set up in an individual ranking list - based on skill - and that list set up the teams for each round, wich means that - in theory - all teams are "equal".
RANKINGS
You can look HERE how the ranking looks. On the right side (Teams), you see how the teams are set up after each round. Click HERE for the final standings season 4. When all rounds are played, you get fixed teams for the playoffs.
RANKING FORMULA
The ranking has this formula:
Average frags per map: 75 % value
Win % (average map wins): 25 % value
Average frags value + Win % value = Rank
In short: Frags matter more than map wins, but you need map wins also to stay high ranked. You also get a high rank with map wins, even of your frag score is on the lower side. Several % formats have been tested, but the 75/25 (frags/mapwins) format have so far worked best to get rankings that enables the best possible way to get equal teams for each round. This can be subject to change. The ranking is not a competition (cool to be high ranked?), it is just a tool to get equal teams for each round. Teams can even be edited after ranking setup if the teams feel "unfair". The endgame is always; as equal teams as possible.
IT WORKS
This format have been working great for 5 seasons of QML: There are no major game delays and every game has been played. Inactive players simply get replaced. In a league with 32+ players, there are always someone who can standin for noshows or/and players who are late. The ranking system is designed to get equal teams.

Format
The season consists of 6 games of GO3 for each player (18 maps played) + a BO5 playoff; starts with Quarter Finals. Each round (6 rounds) you play 3 maps. There can be more players than 32, but we always need +8 players (32, 40, 48, 56 etc).
There are 8 teams in the league (if 32 players): VIOLET (color 9 9), MINT (color 11 11), YELLOW (color 12 12), GREEN (color 3 3), BROWN (color 1 1), ORANGE (color 5 5), PINK (color 6 6), SKYBLUE (color 2 2) and the players in each team is decided by the rankings.
In the first round the teams will be decided by the admins ranking setup, but each round after that the teams are decided by the results of the previous round.
When the last round is done (round 6) the playoff teams are set; the final standing in the rankings decides the playoff teams, who then are fixed for the whole playoff. Random draw will decide what teams face each other in the playoffs.
TIMEFRAME
There will be 1 game per week. Teams schedule the game themselves within that week. This means 6 weeks for 6 rounds and 2 weeks for playoffs. Start date is when we got enough players to start (minimum 32 players).
Game Procedure
For a game to get going players need to take charge them selves, so the highest ranked player in the game will have to take some responsibility and be "admin" of the game. If a game is already 5 minutes delayed and players are not on server, standins can be used.
Try and use standins that actually plays in the league because that standin will then get this game/maps registered in the rankings. Also if possible try and get a standin that is close in the rankings of the player(s) missing. A standin used that is not in the league is also ok but all players should agree on that. Standins not in the league will be listed as standin players in the rankings, they dont affect anything in the main rankings.
Late players to a game can ofc join in after 1st or 2nd map, so leave specs ON.
As each game got 3 fixed maps to play, it dont matter in what order you play the maps.

Players leaving/joining/noshows/standins
Players can for any reasons drop out of the season, but by doing so you delete everything you did and you are deleted from the rankings. As this is a league that is fixed for 32 players, new players can join in anytime if replacements are needed. Players who signed up as #33 and up will then be asked first, as they are on "waiting list". Remember: A season last only 8 weeks, before we launch a new one.
Noshow for games is allowed (but it would be nice with a message about it), but you will miss out in the rankings. If a noshow keeps on noshowing, admins will evaluate the situation and possibly replace that player. Standins will be used, there will be no delays or rescheduling.
