Hell Xpress

History

Hell Xpress was formed in 1996 as a Quake DeathMatch clan.

SpaceCadet and Falcon are the Co-Founders of Hell Xpress.

We started playing Team Fortress on the first day of release. A full clan history is being written.

In my opinion, Hell Xpress had one of the longest and richest histories in all of Quake. We always played at the highest levels and have won many titles.

HX did not have had the same level of popularity or notoriety as other QWTF (QuakeWorld Team Fortress) clans and I believe that was directly related to our Mplayer origins.

Many overhyped teams came from QuakeWorld to Mplayer thinking they would dominate Mplayer teams and leagues based off reputation alone.

Of all the great Mplayer clans, HX accomplished the most in our matches against these QW teams. Our successful and powerful switch from Mplayer to QWTF was evidence of the fact that Mplayer teams and players were just that good.

After two decades of biding our time in the shadows, the moment of sweet, albeit slightly absurd, victory is upon us. Who would have thought that the digital realm of Quake would witness such a long game? While the original Hell Xpress clan, pioneers in their own right, forged a legacy in the pixelated battlegrounds, we, the patient usurpers, lurked in the background.

With a blend of admiration and a sly grin, we watched as HX battled, triumphed, and carved out a name in the annals of Quake history. They were the titans of Team Fortress, the conquerors of QuakeWorld, unaware that their greatest challenge wouldn't be on the battlefield, but in holding onto their nickname. Twenty years is a long time in the fast-paced world of gaming. Controllers have evolved, graphics have transformed, and many clans have risen and fallen. Yet, our singular focus remained unwavering – to one day claim the HX moniker as our own. It's a tale that could be straight out of a dark comedy script, where the ultimate prize isn't world domination or legendary status, but a two-letter nickname steeped in digital glory.

Now, as we finally adopt the HX tag, it's done with a mix of reverence and cheeky triumph. We're like the gaming world's version of a quirky villain who spends decades plotting not for riches or power, but for something as whimsically trivial as a name. Here's to Hell Xpress, the unwitting participants in this decades-long game of name-snatching. May the legacy of HX continue, albeit in a form they never quite expected!
