The championship was held in the spring of 1999 in Moscow in several computer clubs - AstalaVISta, Nirvana.
The unofficial name was invented by one of the participants of the championship (RDY-Mutabor) - "Open teamplay tournament among clans mainly of the hero city of Moscow in teams 4 on 4 in the computer game Quake1 on maps of the team's choice according to the rules of full double elimination with the final, without the participation of teams that took the first 3 places in MGL-1". Official name - "Spring cup '99".
The tournament was held on a very strange system with double elimination (a team was eliminated from the tournament after two losses). Before each round there was a draw, after which there were three clans in the groups that played with each other.
