Requiem is a Quake server mod.
History
- Requiem author created the first Qtest patch which included all available monsters which were strategically placed in the DM1 map.(as apposed to one monster per patch in one spot)
- The first public release of Requiem, ver 1.05, was released late December 96 which was basically most of weapons that still exist in Requiem today, some simple bots, and most of the server options which also still exist today.
- Requiem had the very first Freeze weapon that actually froze players.
- Requiem was the first patch to include a new weapon for each standard weapon.
- Requiem was the first patch ever to include new weapons, and bots that could actually use all the new weapons.
- Requiem was the first patch to use the bot-ai for monsters in SinglePlayer mode, to enhance monster intelligence.
- Requiem moved to PlanetQuake in early April of 97.
- Requiem was the first patch to support bots in a QW server.
- Requiem was the first major patch to have bots which appeared on the scoreboard, and appeared to function like normal clients. (all server-side)
- Requiem was the first, and still only patch that is server-side (clients only need standard QWCL to connect) and also has a client pak with new models and sounds as an added extra.
- Requiem was the first patch to have the players weapon drop with the true weapon model, seperately from the backpack, when the player dies, much like it is in Q2 now.
- Requiem was the first CTF variant that had new weapons, include bots and even the first to have new deathmatch modes within CTF.
