More features: Smooth speccing
Ever wondered why on earth normal speccing seems to lag so much? Especially with independent physics enabled the smoothness of normal speccing has become somewhat choppier than before.

There is a special feature that was developed by Qqshka for ezQuake that you might want to test.
Here is a taste of things to come: Download latest ezQuake nightly build from Cokeman's thread and you're good to go.

Setting: cl_physfps_spectator (defaults to 30)

One can fool around with different settings and see what gives the best result. The method being used is called angles lerping (=linear Interpolation) and should smooth the speccing experience a bit. We are, however, not even close to QTV experience but in any case this feature will help normal spectators.

cl_physfps_spectator obeys server's maxfps variable, so 77 will be the highest available on most of the servers. cl_maxfps works normally though.

it's fun when you propose some feature and is told that is stupid and a waste of time, and then it's in the next beta anyways

The ways of the coders are mysterious.

I personally don't think that this idea is/was stupid, since normal speccing tends to suck donkey balls. However I can't talk instead of ezQuake guys but obviously someone was too bored with IRL and decided to waste his time and effort :E

Zalon: it's not in "next beta", and if one developer refuses to code it, it doesn't mean that all of the developers don't want to do it.

very nice!

What I want to know why demo watching is choppy like I'm in spec mode? fte is so smooth like I'm actually playing the game...

If you means mvd demos, then it was fixed too, there was some bug(mvd interpolation code called each physical frame = 77 times per second, that obviously bad, should be called each frame) with fps independat physics which cause mvd demos to be less smooth than without it.

Yea I meant mvd. Great news!

so cl_maxfps can be > 77 as spectator and i can have 0ms if i set cl_maxfps 1000?
