Wart's LAN or simply Wart's, officially titled The LAN, was a regular get-together held by Wart in Melbourne, Australia.

History

The first Wart's LAN was on the 26th of January 2000: at that stage, the LAN was open to anyone so the crowd was a mix of mostly QW and CS players. Soon the LAN had earned itself a small reputation and the small scout hall in which it was held would fill out. The LAN was later made QW-only (by about LAN #7), but the hall would still fill up; Wart would open registrations for the LAN on his website and the Melbourne community would scramble to get a spot. Often the 30 spots were taken rather quickly causing people to miss out. This would not deter them however, as they rocked up to the hall anyway, willing to wait outside for someone to leave. In its prime, Wart's LAN had 30 people registered and another 30 on a waiting list.

Over the years the reputation of the LAN spread over the country, with tales of substance-enhanced gaming and "Pizza-Smackdown" inspiring even interstate players to fly over for the fun.

Noone knows for sure why the LAN was stopped. Reports point to a server crash leading to the demise in inspiration and motivation for Wart to run the LAN. The last one was held on the 14th of February 2005.
