Server and QTV match info
For a long time people have wanted to know if the game they are going to spectate / are spectating is a official match or not, but the information has not been there. Well, not until today. The support for "matchtag" has been added for both KTX and QTV.
To enable "matchtag", you just need to specify additional parameter to the XonX command. For example:


/4on4 eql semifinal


/1on1 ownage

To get rid of the information, just use XonX without any additional parameters. The matchtag should be visible as follows:

After giving the client command:

On the QTV page:

The info can also been found from /serverinfo, you can use the command while speccing normally or when observing from QTV. This feature requires the latest KTX and the latest QTV

So far only two servers and one QTV are supporting this, but hopefully server admins are going to update their servers in near future. The servers that have support for matchtag currently are:

quakeworld.fi:28000 (QTV)
troopers.fi:28001-28003 (KTX)
wg.quakeworld.fi:27501-27503 (KTX)

Would be nice with some links in news about where to find those updates
Do each server that has a QTV server update KTX + QTV stuff, or only KTX?

Server admins have to use the latest sources and compile binaries themselves. To get the sources, install git and use the following commands:

git clone http://qw-dev.net/git/ktx
git clone http://qw-dev.net/git/qtv

Then compile both.

The servers that run only KTX have to update KTX obviously, no point in updating QTV in such case. If one also runs QTV, then QTV has to be updated also.

Luckily a lot of servers are under qw.fi and butt.se QTVs so the support for majority of nordic/european servers will be ok when Cokeman updates butt.se QTV.

Oh lets see, a dick competition about who should get the credits. So here I am. No, seriously, qqshka did the work, he should get the credits. We have too many people with too many ideas and very few people doing some actual work.

Ah, dimman, Mr. I ProtectYourCredits.
I deserve credits for JUST implementing it, but yes it was not my idea, I found that it is a good idea ages ago (there is some ticket, but I rather recall it from the forum) and got some time for implementing it just now.

But defenitely something wrong with you and this constant attempts to protect innocence

Saw it "in action" yesterday on the qtv.quakeworld.nu page, great feature.
Should have a more prominent place on the webpage though, jumping right in the eye
Maybe even sort links by having it set or not?

I've updated mattlantis.net (aka London KTX 2750x).

If anyone else has dramas with mvdsv segfaulting, make sure you also get build the latest from git.

git clone http://qw-dev.net/git/mvdsv I think - the makefile is in mvdsv/build/make and the binary is output to this dir
