In the upper bracket, the drama in the semi-finals began even before a single map was played. The quarter-finals between Zepp and mawe, unfortunately, had to be decided by a walkover. Both players were able to play during many days in the week leading up to the deadline, but there was never a time when both of them were able to play at the same time. The only such time came 30 minutes _after_ Bulat, who was scheduled to play the winner of this last quarterfinal, announced he was ready to play, and mawe was indeed available but Zepp was not. Because the match was already two days over the deadline, the admin (myself) gave w.o., and the first semi-final match was played (with Zepp joining the server 10 minutes after the game started, asking to play mawe just too late.)

Of course, the drama did not stop there. It is no secret that Ztndm3 is the Russian home map, and yet mawe was able to match Bulat's famed 40-ping shaft, and also his wits for positioning and control. Zepp, of course, will have to work through the lower bracket if he is to get a "re"-match with the swedish sensation, and his first opponent there was meshuggah aka opha (demo). Zepp played brutally and forced his way through to face witka, who in turn defeated Thunder (possibly Avenger faking?) from Poland. Again, the brute force was there for Zepp, who kept witka in single digits for two maps. Zepp will now face the loser of the other semi-final, and here is the match break-down:
