Despite this technically being in dev before anyone knew prey was active again it does seem a bit of a rip off

Pretty badass. One of those things that you go "hmm, why didn't I think of that?"

Could be so very easily done even in QW (except the fancy see through graphics, and I guess those are a significant part of it)

To me , portal is amazing, it brings with it a whole new skillset but makes it newbie accessible. It makes you think & move differently than ever before, there are many ways to go about achieving the same end result. That is what's fun about it, the freedom, the personal style each person uses - it is similar to qw in that aspect. When i first saw recordings of others, my mind was blown , i couldn't imagine the level being completed another way. I am surprised time and time again with the ideas people come up with for beating a level. With the challenges section (least amount of time/portals/footsteps), this game has already become very addicting, forcing you to innovate and refine your technique.

To me this goes to show that it is possible that perhaps qw style bunnyhopping may show up in the future in a strong way. The acceptance of this completely new portal ability shows that people are willing and excited to learn radical new ways of movement, when packaged the way Valve did. I personally think bunnyhopping would take Portal to the next level, it almost seems silly walking around slowly after moving so fast through portals anyway. ortalPlayer.jpg" class="bb-url">In fact, your character in Portal has knee replacements that add mechanical leg extenders which act as shock absorbers to prevent falling injuries - so it even makes sense that they could allow the player to jump faster/farther and accelerate . But that's just me - I wish bunnyhop was in almost every game.

Here's an example of a speed run (youtube has TONS of portal runs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYK1OyF1Pz0&watch_response

I must say this looks pretty nice. I'm not that much into puzzles, but I would love to see something like this as an actual mod:

Maybe have little restrictions for how many portals / how far you can create them in teamgames.
Also maybe have a small delay so that if enemy sees your portal being opened, they could shoot it quickly to close it before you can go through. If you have eyes, your portal would be barely visible, with pent, enemy couldn't shutdown the portal, maybe with quad you could teleport other players with precision shots, like from ra-high to sng-tele

Would also like to see the ability to create portals where ever so you could have binds like this:

bind q "create teleport parallel to myself 1000 units ahead"

Maybe you could even have teleport pairs id 1-3 so you could shoot off three different teleports. This combined with triple rocket + gl jump + bunnying would simply be insane, people would probably throw up in 5 seconds especially if viewed with high fov DD

Portal is gameplay is pretty fun but the really awesome thing about it is the storyline and GLaDOS, the computer AI which follows you. It's hysterical.
Spell "mogul," Bateman. How do you spell mogul? M-o-g-u-l. Mo-gul. Mog-ul. Ice, ghosts, aliens-
