Hi all this is my first post on this forum....gotta question

My G5 came in today and I was playing ffa with some guy and he said to not install the drivers...maybe they are bad or something? but anyways...im not really all that knowledged with cpu's and am wondering how to set it up for qw...like what to click and not to click in the setup...what to put on my cmdline for the mouse besides -dinput -m_smooth..what dpi and mhz or wutever is best and a "sweet" sensitivity (even though thats just personal opinions)..thanks,

Dan

I liked both my mx510 and mx518 better without drivers.. not sure about the G5 tho
all I ever did was tweak them to 500hz and no -dinput or smooth

I have a mx510 that i use without drivers on 500hz. I use both -dinput and -m_smooth in the cmdline and my aim stinks!

Didn't notice any difference with/without it i think besides that i can't use m_showrate to get an in-game-proof that i've got 500hz when i don't use -m_smooth

What is the real purpose of -m_smooth?

afaik all it does is make mouse movements at the specified rate smoother.. so if u use 125hz (default usb) u can gain some smoothness from putting -m_smooth in cmdline and setting m_rate to 125. then your faster movements (ones registering 125hz) will be smoother. slower movements (registering much less) wont be effected. with 500hz theres enough sampling going on to make it smooth anyhow, so no need for -m_smooth.

m_smooth adds a little lag to your mouse
it calculates the average of 2 cycles and therefore uses 1 extra cycle.

don;t know if i'm talking complete shit now, but somewhere i remember. all i know for sure is that it adds a bit of lag which is uneccesary when using 500hz.
