Round of 16:

24-Jun 16:00 Germany 2 - 0 Sweden
24-Jun 20:00 Argentina 2 - 1 Mexico
25-Jun 16:00 England 1-0 Ecuador
25-Jun 20:00 Portugal 1-0 Netherlands
26-Jun 16:00 Italy 1-0 Australia
26-Jun 20:00 Switzerland 0-0 (0-3 pp) Ukraine
27-Jun 16:00 Brazil - Ghana
27-Jun 20:00 Spain - France

sorry guys, ride over for Sweden. sadly Larsson pulled the plug from your football machine with that missed penalty kick
deserved win for zee germans i say..

Mexico stood up surprisingly well against Argentina, i was like omgwtf @ first goal.
they lost in a honorable manner. no one is to blame for Maxi's Rodriguez fantastic goal (zomg!).

my predictions for the Quarter Finals are (besides Germany - Argentina):

England - Netherlands (sorry Trinca )
Italy (i hope not though ) - Switzerland (fine pragmatic football, they have a + against UKR)
Brazil (O RLY?) - Spain (France are uninspired)

also check this Excel table with dynamic results and stuff, it is completed to date by me

I did now porta was smart but didn't know they were this lame. And same for the fkn referee, NL overruled the complete 2nd half but cuz of the lame acting we could only play 15mins of of the 45 and what do we get?? 6min extra time HEHEHE that makes me laugh.

Both teams were acting like total shit with their fouling and diving and general lack of sportsmanship. I have no sympathy for either team and I just hope that Figo gets the ban that he deserves for that disgraceful headbutt.

Murdoc : Netherland should have played with 10 guys from the 7/8 minute... Do you have a rugby national team?

That guy that sent Ronaldo to the bench created all of the mess that happened later in the game.
And what about "fair play"...?
Walk over...Portugal wins!!!

The reason why he didn't gave the ball back was cuz of the lame attidude of figo, boulahrouz just took the ball and figo dropped down cuz he got hit by a little elbow not even on purpose and it was just a duel.

That is a red card offence no matter how you dress it up. It's ridiculous that he's gotten away with it.

yeah everyone says how lame portugal is and stuff but guess what? WE LOVE FOOTBALL MORE THAN YOU!
yeah i agree that the game got fucked after those 2 fouls vs Ronaldo. VanBasten said that his team would "follow very closely his movements, and Deco and Figo" yeah, at 7' mark 2 *deserved* yellow cards for fouls vs Ronaldo, gg, pt was lucky but the best team won, and i dont blame the brits for being scared the shit out

NEDERLANDS != GOOD SPORT
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

I don't think anyone is scared, least of all "the Brits". But then again, it's not Britain in the World Cup, it's ENGLAND.

I don't understand why everyone's moaning. I didn't watch the game that closely, but from what I saw all yellow cards were deserved. Portugal played shit, so did Holland. I'm generally no friend of the referees, but is it really his fault if players decide to hunt each others' legs rather than play football? I don't believe so.

I hope, Figo is suspended now, that stupid son of a bitch. If I were in charge, the likes of Figo or De Rossi would never play professional football again. Yes, never. They could drive busses for a year and see if they get away with physically attacking random people in such a manner.

Am I the only one thinking that Portugals played much better on the first half (at least before C.Ronaldo issues)
Miguel owned Robben.
The only reason Holland got back to the game was that first red card of Portugals.
Nevertheless, Holland didnt do that good this year and deserved to drop.

i do think England will beat Portugal without much difficulty

i also think Germany may upset Argentina when they meet.

i also think Italy will progress at the expense of Ukraine, although with both Nesta (injured) and Materazzi (suspended) out it will be interesting. They defended well against Australia in second half so squad may be strong enough.

i also think Spain will take France tonight and maybe go on to beat Brazil (unless Ghana get there first!)

it is nice to see that for the first time in a while, the last 8 is full of decent teams

Sorry oldman. It´s faith...Portugal will be in semi´s

Andy : you know nothing about Figo as i see. Probably it was the first time you saw him playin´.
I know him from 1991 under 21 World champs and it was the first time that he surprised me having that kind of action...
"After all Figo is not Jesus" said Scolari.

So, In your book England has played very well? Mark Hart & Co thinks different.

But at least you've to admit that England has serious foward problems, since Rooney is the only decent forward they've got and to who Sven rely on. Peter Crouch may be proper forward but he can't score on the bench, and he will probably be on bench since he has blown his changes. Sven had the balls to name Theo Walcot but doesnt have the balls to give him a shot, not even now when Owen is injured. Lennon is quick but young, but he doesnt have a change against Miguel (if they are against each other). England has Rooney, who's good but not in his best shape and there's no one to feed him. Gerrard & Lampard have been horrible, Gerrard has done 2 goals tough.

England haven't played well, but we have at least been improving by a little in each game. We have a habit of raising our game for the bigger teams and I think we have a great chance against Portugal.

Lennon is a right-winger and Miguel is a right-back so they won't be up against each other (also Sven won't drop Beckham EVER...)

i wouldn't drop beckham either tbh

lennon is good on the ball and individually but his passing isn't that great, he's far better employed as a late substitute when opposition defences are tiring

In the Ecuador game Lampard got the ball like 4 times, each time he shot and missed to goal. Gerrard didnt do much better, except some good passes.

Gaz, OK.

Lampard has been shocking, Gerrard has been better but not up to the standard of his Liverpool form.

Lampard has been fine, apart from not putting away chances, his general play has been good. If you hadn't seen Lampard play so well for Chelsea and score so many during the season you wouldn't be criticising what he's done so far for England.

Because he was a "nice guy" when he was 21 makes it OK to be an utter asshole when he's old? And please stop posting your "you have no clue"-bullshit to "stress" your arguments (your point prove nothing, anyway), that's ridiculous.
