only happens in

a) since when do street muggings involve 4 people of approx 17 years of age carrying a shotgun and a pistol?

b) since when do you try to put up a fight with a pocket knife against heavy weaponry when chances are you have <= $50 on you? its not like he had the secrets of the davinci code in his rucksack

"My first instinct was to run, but they cornered me, so I had no other choice than to defend myself," Autry said.

In britain he'd be arrested for murder and grevious bodily harm and sentanced to a 'life' sentance of 25 years, and only serve about 10 years of it.
At least the americans have that bit right.

spike: a 36 year old man stabbing a 17 year old girl to death, even if she is a mugger, deserves some form of punishment really

no it doesn't..

in that kind of situation, with one shotgun pointed at you and a pistol, you aren't thinking very clearly.

those were obvious self-defense actions dictated by panic and cannot be condemned.

the man did try to run afterall, when cornered he reacted from instinct to save his life.
god damn hippies >_<

reminds me off that old cs joke.
"how do you recognize a cs player?"
"he always pulls his knife when he runs for the buss"

also like this quote from grimwall: http://www.warpdrive.se/?3045
translation to english
"hit a csplayer with a knife in the ass and you get a headshot, because that's where they have their head"
(sloppy quick translation, not really the same flow as the originial but i guess it will do )

The british government is currently considering a five year sentance simply for carrying a knife in the first place.
So yes, he should be _very_ glad that he was in america at the time.
