OK my mouse freezes from time to time and i cant use any mousebuttons either, keyboard works fine when this happens...
Seams to be random, when winamp change song and if it happens then it will unfreeze at the same time next song has started. but its not winamp thats causes it. I can get this with just mirc, nod32 virus tool, and some other system icons in the tray.
I get small sound lags to, but not as the same time. these sometimes causes a minor "normal" lag.
Iam thinking that all this has something with the sound todo somehow.

Changed drivers from winXP default to logitechs, I have a mx500 and logitech keyborad. I have a GeForce 6800LE, also tried different drivers for it.

As for the res of my system I have:
1024Mb SDRRAM PC3200 (400mhz)
Epox EP-8K9A7(i) Socket A
AthlonXP 2600+ (1,94Ghz)
SoundBlaster Live!

It can handle qw with FTE on highest graphics (realtime) + alot of Hi-res textures, res 1280x1024, 32bit, 75hz.
So i run around with 72fps.. dunno why it on stays on 72 and jumps up to 77 and stays there a few seconds just to drop down to around 72 again, yes i use cl_maxfps 77...

also worth mention is that i dont have any problems in any other game.

i use ezQuake, due to my bad memory i can only confirm the mouse freeze problem for ezQuake, i can remeber if it happend in FTE. But i do remember that i get the small soundlags in both, witch causes minor lags that i can live with... for now.

now give me the sulotion for the mouse freezing!

I encountered something quite similar since I installed WhatPulse (http://whatpulse.org/). When I disable it then there are no lockups, when it runs then there are serious lockups every few minutes. I'd suggest you scan your PC for something like a keylogger. This _might_ be the cause I think.

arent you supposed to type sys_yieldcpu 1
and sys_somethingelse

high priority i think
just set them both to 1 and see what happens

This happend to me when I was running the usb at 1000hz instead of 500hz.

Seems like my motherboard did not really enjoy it.

After a lot of research it seems to be the soundcard which is causing it...

Seems like creative did not write perfect drivers for directx, i installed kxproject drivers instead and that solved it for me.

Also there is a pci latency tool that fixes the problem for some.

The said problem returned on my pc. I did not reinstall Windows nor any drivers. No idea... Gaah! I'll try that pci latency tool.

sys_highpriority 1
sys_yieldcpu 1

that solved the problem in my case; I had the exact same symptoms first mentioned in the thread.
